Abu Qatada Has More Rights Than Me! British Golf Club President Arrives At Heathrow To Be Taken To U.S. For Trial

Featured Replies

The "batteries" in question are considered classified defense materials and, as such, are covered under the Arms Export Control Act.

The American enforced ITAR regulations will come back to haunt them. Many companies have been fined huge amounts and are now looking at sourcing component parts from elsewhere due to controls that have been put in place. Some of these rules are simply ridiculous and this WILL eventually affect American jobs.

My confusion on the "batteries" issue came from reading somewhere he was charged with dealing in batteries "of" missiles and reading another time of dealing in batteries "for" missiles.

Were both he and the batteries charged tongue.png

Of course. What good is an uncharged battery?wai.gif

The Acid test would be that an uncharged battery could make the case fall Flat on it's face.

I'll get my coat now.

I'm trying to understand why membership of a golf club makes any difference at all to his case?

It is somewhat amazing that a government capable of putting chains

on an old man for selling batteries to a country who has not attacked

anyone in over 200 years......Cannot find even ONE

single person to lock up who helped cause the worst Financial Crisis in the

history of this world.

If instead this old man had sold Derivatives that actually ARE crashing America

as we speak he would still be free.....This Country is a Mess

I know its fashionable to put the blame on others for the profligacy of our banks, our governments and ourselves, but people sell what people buy.

No doubt about it........I am not saying there are not also heroin users

But I will say it is more fashionable for some to put the blame solely on the customers/addicts & not the dealers these days.

Again I am saying yes the people allowed a out of control government to allow out of control banks/hedge funds etc to go wild.

This in no way means there is no possibility of waking up & jailing dealers who knowingly sold worthless bundles worldwide.

Profited from it & then profited yet again via bailouts............Just because they are the Top Ten Campaign Contributors to all

Presidential elections may mean they are Too Big To Fail........But it should not mean they are Too Big To Jail

I dislike that nasal whine. The uk should just say no to the yanks and charge him themselves

Oh hang on...he's not broken any uk laws. Silly me!

Who? I don't think you mean Abu Qatada, but hey he has spent 10 years in jail without enough evidence to even trial let alone convict, but the D.M says he is guilty.

Lets Hang Him.

Gain the evidence, trial him, get a verdict by his peers and sentence him, or on the other hand, just hang him and be dam-ned.

I was referring to our "arms dealer".

I know.

Neither the Arms Dealer!! or the most wanted man out of the UK have broken any laws to be jailed in the UK.

Hang them both high, says I.

Not exactly. Selling batteries meant for nuclear weapons to the biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world.

That is a tough one to quantify....

Not just because we lack facts & are rich in propaganda but also because one mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist.

Do we.... the US... support terror? Many would agree wholeheartedly

Does the UN support Terror? those civilians left to deal with it now in many places like Libya would again say yes

Israel? Oh lets not even look.... deal?

At the end of the day.......... I just say judge a tree by its fruit...Not by what others "claim"

Rules are meant to be broken. I blame the blokes that came up with the rules.

He was probably just anticipating possible future US policy.

I don't have an update of the living accommodations of the battery salesman but Abu Qutada seems to have become a bit more upscale recently.

Qatada, the happiest man in England: Brother boasts of hate-preacher's delight as he is given a more expensive home (funded by the taxpayer, of course)

By TOM KELLY

PUBLISHED: 21:30 GMT, 25 March 2012 | UPDATED: 13:33 GMT, 26 March 2012

Abu Qatada has been upgraded to a larger taxpayer-funded home since his release from jail last month, the Mail can reveal.

The terror suspect has told relatives in his native Jordan that he is the ‘happiest man in England’ after he was rehoused to the more expensive property.

His wife and five children are also said to be ‘delighted’ with the move, because their new home has more bedrooms, a bigger garden and more modern fittings.

Do you think I ought to go back to Britain, and preach hatred against the Brits? Oh, and have a clutch of children first.

Currently, I have no pension from Britain, though I was born there, have served in the RAF, and spent a dozen years working for the British Council in a British territory (Hong Kong... it was British then). No, I didn't pay any contributions to the Social Welfare schemes, but then neither did Abu Qatada.

Should I send back my active service medal? And what good would that do me? (And please do not ask what I got my medal for... oh, very well, it was for going on holiday in Malaya during the Emergency... but I had to take a rifle with me).

the family is delighted with better living conditions? so what? huh.png

It looks like Abu Qatada's days in comfort may be coming to an end.

Too cryptic for me. What's happening?

PS: sand pit still OK?

Theresa May, the UK Home Secretery, has stated that she has received assurances from Jordan that, although the proposed trial there against Abu Khatada will still go ahead, they will not use evidence obtained by torture, thus AQ's human rights will not be infringed.

He has been re-arrested preparatory to deportation - which process may take another year.

"

Before he was admitted to the jail, a proud Mr Tappin said he had dressed smartly because ‘I want to show the Americans a little bit of class, even if it does not go down well’.

"

Criminals of all types dress up for the judge. You should see all the filthy street thugs that show up to court clean-cut in a suit and tie. Not saying this guy is a street thug, just that "dressing smartly" means nothing really other than it is expected.

Were laws actually broken which caused the financial crisis?

He's been taken back into custody for deportation. But he still has an appeal left.

P.S. Lot of rain last night for a change. At least it brought the dust down.

Edit. Just seen Humps response.

And the next chapter in this saga :-

http://www.telegraph...crosswords.html

Cruel and unusual punishment - refusing to allow someone on remand (not yet trialled or found guilty of any offence) to have crosswords to complete.

What a great read. If I had a wife like Tappin I might consider pleading guilty.

His wife claims "it's not nice, conditions are horrible". - - I'm sure prison conditions would be horrible to a millionaire.

Making phone calls has been difficult and Tappin "...missed the opportunity to speak to his son Neil, on his 31st birthday." - -OMG! Grow up already.

"There are also difficulties getting money to him as his jail does not take Western Union transfers." - - Poor dear. Try sending him a carton of fags.

"In our country we pride ourselves on our judiciary system." - - Reminds me of that movie "In The Name of the Father" with Daniel Day Lewis and Pete Postlethwaite. A proud time indeed.

Wait until she finds out they only serve ICED tea in the prison.

I'm sure the prison has only his best interests in mind. Considering the horrible prison he is in if he had a pen or pencil he would probably be raped with it before having it stuck through his eye socket.

I can't help but feel the title should be changed to "Abu Qatada has better lawyers than me".....

He is still on remand, so I suggest he would not be mixing with the general population.

In the UK he would remain separated, but would be allowed various comforts, such as own clothes, general reading and writing materials. I assume this would include crossword and sudoku puzzles.

edit - but of course he would not be on remand in the UK, because he has done nothing against UK law.

The good news is that today, finally, Abu Hamza and 4 of his "associates" are en-route to the US after failing in their final appeals against extradition.
