Please can you advise the steps for renewing an exisitng UK passport while in Thailand. I understand the application must be done by DHL to the Hong Kong UK Embassy?

Be warned, the DHL agent on Samui rang when the passport arrived back from Hong Kong and said I have to pay 1000 Baht 'tax' on the passport.

Note- I paid in full when I sent the application off, no other payments were due!

My memory is a bit vague now, but I believe I had the return name with my wife's details and/or, had her phone number for the contact. She sorted it out, but they were not happy about missing their little bonus.

I sent mine with EMS to the Embassy and back with DHL.
