Facebook kills. Not the first death caused by Mark Zuckerberg's website

......wink.png..

Do I see the potential for a lawsuit here...??

Facebook has got FA to do with it...

I know...but that's irrelevant in the American Justice system....

People sued Mc D. for making them fat!!!!!!!!

Yes and they lost. As anyone with half a brain could predict anyway (no one made the plaintiff eat McD non-stop...)

Re the OP: This is certainly complicated because the guy was trained in the marshal arts. This infers responsibility on him to act with restraint. He disarmed his attacker but then proceeded to repeatedly stab him.

I was the victim of an attempted mugging in the UK and exercising restraint was what stopped any charges being brought against me.

As a foreigner in Thailand I would be even more concerned about excessive force than back home.

Once again simple duplicity ends in tragedy.

Why does it appear that Thai women expect no results from slighting men, and why do these idiot men resort to chicken s**t violence over these girls. Why don't people just punch each other and walk away.

Where does this intense childish jealousy come from?

Get over it.

Being 18 I guess.

It sure sounds like the Thai teenager brought the knife from home?

You can take a Thai girl out of Thailand but you can not take the Thai out of a Thai girl. Interested to know who grabbed the knife first!!!

Irrespective of who grabbed the knife first, the killer is guilty.

There is no question about it.

The Killer is sure to be found guilty, as rule #1 of Thai law clearly states: If Farang didn't come to Thailand, it would have not happened in the first place, so Farang is responsible for all traffic accident or violent crimes, even when Farang is the victim.

Stabbing somebody in self defense, is only a valid excuse if your alledged attacker is the one who presented the knife. It seems more than likely that the Thai boy could have brought the Knife, and when he tried to use it, he was overpowered. In that case, you could call it self defense, however I seriously doubt Farang killing Thai in self defense is ever going to fly.

You've got your knickers on backwards with regard to your interpretation of the Thai laws. You are incorrect on all your assumptions.

Multiple stab wounds is hardly likely to be seen as self defense.

exactly my thoughts.

It depends on the nature of the wounds. If there are 'defensive' stab wounds on the deceased, then a claim of 'self defense' by the survivor would become questionable. However, just as some true cases of self defense involving multiple gun shot wounds result when the survivor fires repeatedly due to extreme fear, the same can happen when the weapon is a knife. Mortal knife wounds are not always instantly fatal and a first wound would not necessarily stop an attacker in their tracks. Look at the recent case of the Australian women who received what was a fatal stab wound, but walked away from the incident before succumbing.

Not true. If me and another man were having an argument and he grabbed a knife from somewhere and came at me with it I would try and kill him before he could kill me. If I was walking down the street and a guy with a knife tried to mug me, I would stab him with it if I had the chance, and I would make sure he was dead. If I didn't, then he could kill me.

sounds pretty bigoted, it's always the "girl's" fault, isn't it? Those Thai girls, you know all about them, you must be an expert

sounds pretty bigoted,

Bigots on TV ? never, some of the sadest farang's bigots in Thailand are full card carrying members of TV, usually the first ones to start bleating on about the Thai goverment discrimating against them, they cant own land etc etc

Well, he LOOKS well adapted to Thai/Bangkok male culture with that hideous metrosexual hair style he's rockin'. Looks like the Andy Warhol meets Woody Allen. Surprise to my eyes these are the "the accused." Not surprised this boy is guilty until proven innocent (though we know who probably brought the knife in).

Let' say his name was Mahmut, or similar. He fell in love with this fantastic looking girl who already had a lover.

I've learned how to box when I was just 10. If this guy was educated in Judo, Karate, or any other similar sport it wouldn't have been a big problem to fight with a guy who had a knife, even being naked.

I truly believe that a guy being a sort of okay in Judo wouldn't have a problem to take this knife away and just break his arm to stop anymore violence.

But he obviously went further and killed the young lad. That's not called self defense...............wai.gif

Well I can't really picture that young guy in the bow of a long boat with horned helmet wielding an axe, however it would seem he was profocient with a knife. As to the girl, maybe it is a bad photo but it is hard to imagine two guys fighting to the death over her, she is no Helen of Troy.

No doubt there is more to the story, but irrespective one young guy is dead and the other probably soon doing hard time, just a tragic event that will soon disappear from the headlines.

As for the OP, irregardless of the facts surrounding this case, Mr. Mahmud is going to pay the price no matter what happens.

I don't think you can really blame Facebook for this, any more than you can blame the telephone for all the crimes planned over the network.

She looks well past it in that photo. 18? No way.

In this day and age, it is advisable not to become involved with Thai women or treat with extreme caution.

Why? There are a million reasons and this has been one of them.

Thailand has become extremely commercialised, and the society as a whole much more affluent than it used to be and the women can be a lot more independent in liberal minded Thailand.

Thai attitudes towards relationships have changed dramatically over the years, no longer are the women the loyal, subservient little Thai princesses as most often they are portrayed in the West and the Western guys are led to believe.

My advice is: treat with caution and don`t fall head over heals over a cute smile and perhaps after one night of passion, because the times, they are a changing.

utter nonsense things like this happen the world over.
