Can't Get Google.com In Thailand

Featured Replies

everytime i try to get onto google.com I am redirected to google.co.th. does anyone have this problem also? any way to fix it?

Every country I am in the same thing happens, they all have the local language version. There is a place on the page that will let you change the site, I think it is down towards the left?

Hmmmm.... me too.

Is it really a problem though?

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

That's the same in the Netherlands, you get redirected by Google. At the bottom, the choise in the middle is the language-choise.

Yes I know it looks like this:

แสดง Google.co.th ใน : English

เกี่ยวกับ Google - Google.com in English

©2006 Google

I've tried clicking down on the right on google.com and it still gets redirected. I'm confused.

Are google.com and google.co.th the same exact site? If so, then I'm the fool and apologize for this post.

My PC has been set up in English, no Thai on it whatsoever, maybe that's why I can access Google UK with no problem. I had it built to order in Lampang.

Hmmm...

I'm in Bangkok and always gets to google.com and not google Thailand at home or office. Maybe got something to do with the cookies i think :o

Explorer :D

Maybe something to do with your Regional Settings.

Have you set your location as Thailand?

And... again... is it really a problem?

Yes, as long as your computer is set to "Thailand" you will get Thai google.

Google.people suggested to me, to set to the nearest English-speaking outnry, which works fine, except for the clock.

but if you need direct go to your home-google. like google.be for Beligium, .de for Germany a.s.o.

In a case like this, a screenshot would have been helpful.

If your screen looks like the attachment google_th.gif, then click on “Google.com in English”. This should bring you to a screen like attachment google_com_01.gif (except that at the bottom right it will probably say “Go to Google Thailand” instead of “Go to Google Switzerland”)

Here, click on “Preferences”. This brings you to a screen like attachment google_com_02.pdf.

Here, set your preferences, the click on “Save Preferences”

Close the browser and open it again.

Type www.google.com in the address field and press Enter.

See if this will do the trick.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

You should be able to set this through preferences somehow, I had a look but could not find the right place to do so.

Anyway, I know I did this myself at some stage. At the moment I get Swedish Google even though my computer is in Thailand.

Maybe something to do with your Regional Settings.

Have you set your location as Thailand?

And... again... is it really a problem?

The Thai version of Google has a bias towards Thai sites in it's search results (I'm pretty sure it does anyway), may be an issue for non-Thai people.

I have bookmarks for every Google that I need and then just click on the one I want.

www.Google.co.uk

www.Google.co.au

www.Google.co.th

I don’t know if it matters, but there is a difference.

If you search for lets say Asus on:

Google.com

Google.co.th in English

Google.co.th in Thai but still writing the search word Asus in English

You will get 3 different results.

Google.com will list 12.700.000 result

Google.co.th in English will also list 12.700.000 result but the top 10 list will be different from the google.com search results.

The Google.co.th in Thai language will list 18.300.000 results and also a different top 10 than any of the others.

Have you tried looking at the actual address on the "manage bookmarks" tab.

My Mozilla search engine box often gets hijacked by the Thai Google address and then goes to that by default. Interestingly the ordinary address is still there but the thai one takes precidence. Dunno 'bout explorer dont use it.

If this happens simply delete the one you don't want from the bookmark list.

I think it is something to do with your IP address, which is in Thailand, altering the regional settings will not help.

Thats right, its a cookie and your Ip address, if you delete the cookie, you should be able to go to google.com and not be redirected to google.co.th. Google run more than one data center, each one is not always 100% in sync with the others, this one reason why you can get different results for the same query on either different pc's or different google home page, your ip address, your cookie and other factors detemine which data center supplies your search results.

everytime i try to get onto google.com I am redirected to google.co.th.
Thaiman, in case you haven’t solved your problem yet, look at this help page of Google.
