I haven't been there for a while, but I found K-Upgrade in Tukcom Kosa very helpful and with good after-sales service.

No English speaker there at the time though.

Plenty of others in there that specialise in laptops.

Just for thought:

Will you do the SW installation on your own (OS, applications), as I did?

Otherwise you get a fully Thai language OS and a hell lot of applications all in Thai.

All SW is pirated of course and will cause trouble sooner or later.

Absolutely unoperable except you are fluent in Thai.

Some shops are quite dumb. One daughter in the familiy got a 32bit OS installed and "free RAM upgrade" to 8 GB. Ha ha, 5 GB of wasted hardware (moved 4 GB to my laptop which has 64bit OS in the meantime).

The online shops might deliver a blank hardware (maybe with a free DOS version) as some local shops do.

A better start for your own installation.

Thanks for your help folks.It looks like Tuk Com (Dteuk Com) is the one for me.

I did think about buying online and had a look at a few sites, tohome.com and a few others.What put me off was worrying about if the notebook would get damaged in transit and also you can't haggle with the online shops or get any freebies.

Recently bought the wife a desktop from banana IT it Tuk Com. They have OEM disks and software for purchase -- I bought W7. Great install, great service.

Many of the notebooks sold in Thailand have OEM english language software. I have an old Asus that had licenses OEM Vista preinstalled. If you ask, they will install pirated. If you are willing to pay, the reputable shops have legit W7.
