PHUKET: -- Moshe David, the prime suspect in the murder investigation of his former business associate Peter Reisz, this morning re-enacted the sequence of events that led to the death of Mr Reisz.

As with all public appearances since his arrest, Mr David was silent in front of reporters. However, Provincial Police Region 8 Commander Gen Yongyuth Charoenwanith announced to the press yesterday that the Hungarian-Israeli dual national had confessed to police to killing Mr Reisz in a fit of rage.

Gen Yongyuth explained that Mr David had accused Mr Reisz of swindling him out of land and properties valued at about 15 million baht.

Mr David this morning arrived at the house where the alleged murder took place, in a well-known housing development off Wichit Songkram Road, wearing a balaclava and under escort by about 30 police officers.

Phuket Gazette reporters were not allowed in the house while Mr David re-enacted the sequence of events that led to the death of his former business associate.

Mr David exited the house after about 30 minutes. He was still wearing the balaclava, but was now carrying a black plastic trash bag similar to the bag Mr Reisz’s body was found in.

The next stop on the re-enactment trail was the rubber plantation in the Soi Bang Thong area in Thung Thong, Kathu, where Mr Reisz’s body was found.

With his face now exposed, Mr David re-enacted how Mr Reisz’s body was dumped in the undergrowth.

“Mr David was transferred to Thung Thong Police Station. Tomorrow, police will present him to the Phuket Provincial Court to relinquish custody of the suspect,” said Phuket Provincial Police Commander Choti Chavaviwat.

Meanwhile, the search continues for the alleged accomplice Gyorgy Lajos Kvalka, also Hungarian.

“Police are still searching for him. At this stage, there are only two suspects that we have had arrest warrants issued for [Mr David and Mr Kvalka],” Maj Gen Choti told the Gazette.

However, Maj Gen Choti declined to comment on what action the police were taking in apprehending the Thai male suspect reported yesterday as wanted by police.

While I agree that life can be valued very cheaply in Thailand, this is about Hungarians who were swindling each other, in Thailand. As they say; you can't choose your family, but you can choose your "friends."

PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Police Commander Choti Chavalviwat has confirmed that police on Koh Samui have arrested Hungarian national Gyorgy Lajos Kvalka, wanted in connection with the murder of fellow Hungarian Peter Reisz in Phuket.

“We are in contact with police there, but at this stage we are not sure when the suspect will be brought to Phuket,” Maj Gen Choti told the Phuket Gazette.

Gen Choti explained that during the yesterday’s re-enactment of the sequence of events that led to the death of Mr Reisz, prime suspect Moshe David under police escort went to the Central Festival Phuket shopping mall before going to the house in Wichit, the scene of the crime.

“After killing [sic] Mr Reisz, they [the alleged killers] went to eat at Central,” Gen Choti explained.

Gen Choti also told the Gazette that no Thai suspects were being sought by police in relation to the case, despite Provincial Police Region 8 Commander Gen Yongyuth Charoenwanit announcing on Wednesday that officers were now searching for a Thai man.

Mr David is being held at the detention cells at the Phuket Immigration Office in Phuket Town while the police investigation continues, Gen Choti added.

Lt Col Somkid Boonrat, Deputy Commander of Phuket Provincial Police, explained, “The law prohibits prisoners being held at police stations for long periods of time, so we asked the court for permission to hold Mr David at Phuket Immigration so we can question him freely while we continue our investigation.”

I was not relating to the 15 million baht in this particular case, more relating to the relatively low price of a contract hit here in Thailand. Common to hear figures mentioned in news reports of only 60,000 baht or $2,000.

I think you missed my point. Since Mr. David, who is now the prime suspect in this murder, is probably going to spend a lot of time in a Thai prison, was it really worth his time and or money to do the crime? To me, it's no brain, no headache! But then again I'm not stupid enough to get into land "deals" in Thailand!

It was a re-enactment of the crime. At some stage during the crime he was wearing a balaclava and at another time he wasn't.

It sounds like a really predator type of murder. The victim was terrified beforehand after receiving threats, which is classic stalking behavior before a murder. It seems that it was premeditated and the culprit did underestimate Thai police, which is very easy to do.
