What Are The Odds Of Obama Making A Second Term Without Being Impeached?

Featured Replies

Let me refresh my memory about Obama's stance on same sex marriages.

Wasn't he in favor of it when he ran for the Illinois Senate, before he was against it when he ran for the Presidency, before he was for it when Biden painted him in a corner?

Yep. The guy has the spine of a jellyfish.

Just like Lincoln. He was pressured to be an abolitionist and declined for years. Because he had his eyes on the prize on how the goal could ACTUALLY in the real world happen.

Are you saying Obama was emulating Lincoln rather than wondering what would help him get the most number of votes?

What a strange position to put forth.

Lincoln wasn't a God. He needed votes too. I find this demonization of Obama extremely unfair and irrational. He took over the worse economy since the great depression and he SAVED the global economy. He did what democratic presidents have tried to do since FDR -- achieved the concept of health care access as a basic human right for all American citizens. Yes he really is a great president. But he did need this second term.

No I am not saying Obama is going to our GREATEST president. That's Lincoln. But I have a strong feeling he is going to be a GREAT president of the stature of presidents like FDR, and I also feel he is already an ICONIC president. Comparing him to Carter is simply ridiculous. Obama's greatest legacy will likely be this new left center democratic coalition he has built which at the presidential level is basically unbeatable and will become even more unbeatable later.

He took over the worse economy since the great depression and he SAVED the global economy.

Save the absurd falsehoods for the next election. No one is buying it. The unemployment rate is exactly the same as when this clown took office 4 years ago.

I must be missing something, exactly what did he do that was not already in place by Bush to accomplish these things.

Tricky was really so bad. Worse than we knew even then.

Historians are so far rating Obama quite well. The proof will be in his second term of course. Chances are Iran will be in the picture.

But Israel will not be.

His imam will keep him under control for the second term.

Some NRA fanatic will take him out for interference with Second Amendment rights.

He's not really interfering with any second amendment rights; that's all perception. That's what I can't stand about the guy. Everything he does is about perception rather than substantative. His gun control proposals are modest at best. He made the healthcare system WORSE by his Obamacare proposal Jingthing thinks so highly of. It's because he hasn't got the ballls to own a great idea and move it forward. He rules by comittee instead and that allows for the inclusion of all the worst ideas and unintended consequences Everything he touches he makes worse.

Also of course he is the Abraham Lincoln to American gay people.

I would certainly lose a lot of sleep if Obama's presidency ended the same as Lincoln's.

Also of course he is the Abraham Lincoln to American gay people.

You're certainly being magnanimous in your comparison to Abraham Lincoln. Ol' Honest Abe's thinking never really needed to "evolve" on the immorality of slavery.

In all fairness, there were never any reports out of Illinois that Lincoln was really a closet slave.

Lincoln wasn't a God.

First, you say Obama is another Lincoln, now with the above it sounds like you are making a case for how Obama and Lincoln are different. So which is it?

To answer the OP, should Obama be impeached? Here's the Presidential Oath of Office, read it and decided for yourself if Obama has followed it.

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

How many times has he bypassed Congress with his Executive Orders? Erasing laws passed by Congress on illegal immigration, etc? Keep in mind the the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms, is a part of the Constitution. As far as I'm concerned, Obama has violated his oath on several occasions and is a good candidate for impeachment.

Here's one little guy that would be sad to see Obama gone...

All this talk of Lincoln and impeachment reminded me that the first US President to be impeached was Lincoln's successor, Andrew Johnson. His crime? He replaced the Sec of War without the approval of the Senate. Wow, that's all? Obama should be glad he doesn't have that Congress to deal with.

A president doesn't have that power. Obama hasn't done anything he doesn't have the power to do. Nothing.

How about his appointments of the two NLRB members while the Senate was NOT in recess?

100 percent legal and I reckon you know that. He's not the first either and I think you know that too. Not talking about Defense Secretaries here, are we? Look, dudes, if there REALLY WAS an impeachable offense to go after, they would be going after it.

During his first term he has walked very close to the edge if not over it. He has been the darling of the media who refused to pursue any story that might make Obama look bad so that they could aid his re-election. Now that he has won re-election to his second and final term, Obama is likely to act more boldly and cross the line and some in the media might decide to report the news for a change. Remember, they slowly turned on Bill Clinton in his second term. Granted, it took Drudge to report the Lewinsky story but once blood was in the water, the media's natural instinct finally kicked in.

Unfortunately, incompetence isn't at that point yet, but this is what affirmitive action looks like coupled with on the job training. Not to mention throwing people like Reid, Pelosi, etc in the mix. As much as I dislike him, at least Biden seems o have a clue how to get things done.

Yes Biden is a great asset. But Obama was smart enough to CHOOSE Biden. Also Obama now has plenty of executive experience so the learning curve is over.

In 2008, the financial wizards who got us into this world financial crisis mess got big bonuses. In 2012, the community leader with zero accomplishments to run on, bribed and slung mud on his way to winning another four years on the job. It seems America these days is all about rewarding incompetence. That being the case, I fully expect Biden to be sworn in as the 45th POTUS in 2017.

We could do a lot worse than Biden.

Obama isn't a community leader. He is the U.S.A. PRESIDENT.

So? The "new normal" is that that title doesn't impress as much as in the past and the current occupier is responsible for much of that. Granted, womanizing Bubba and stuttering Dubya started it on that way but Obama is dragging it - and our country down to new, lower levels. Maybe that's why there are always so many flies on the man.

I guess some people won't get over this election loss for four years. coffee1.gif

What worries me is how long it will take the country to recover from the next four years.

100% legal? apparently not...

DEVELOPING: Obama recess appointments unconstitutional, court

In a case freighted with major constitutional implications, a federal appeals court on Friday overturned President Obama’s controversial recess appointments from last year, ruling he abused his powers and acted when the Senate was not actually in a recess.

The three-judge panel’s ruling is a major blow to Mr. Obama. The judges ruled that the appointments Mr. Obama made to the National Labor Relations Board are illegal, and the board no longer has a quorum to operate.

But the ruling has even broader constitutional significance, with the judges arguing that the president’s recess appointment powers don’t apply to “intrasession” appointments — those made when Congress has left town for a few days or weeks.
