PHUKET: -- Today, the trial against 50 year old Norwegian Stein Dokset begins in Thailand. He is accused of murdering his ex-wife Rungnapa “June” Ratchasombut who was found in the man’s dumpster last year at his villa on Phuket, Thailand.

newsjs

She had been missing since the summer of 2009 and the Norwegian was arrested for having killed her and concealing the body, Dagbladet writes.

According to Stein Dokset, an accident caused her death. In an interrogation he explained the authorities that the two had an argument, during which she fell down some stairs and died.

When he discovered that she was dead he panicked and concealed the body. He had managed to hide the body for over two years until the maid noticed strange smells around the house and the police raided the villa.

Charges against Dokset are first degree homicide possession of illegal arms. Doksen plead innocent to all charges. If found guilty he risks the death penalty.

Rungnapa “June” Ratchasombut leaves behind three children.

Do the journalists actually believe the stuff they are fed, or do they just have no choice but to report it the way the police tell them? haha If this was a week after she was killed, ok... but two years and she is just now starting to smell things? Riiiiiiiight. The maid must've wanted more blackmail money, or the police, or both?

Smells arrive after days, weeks, not years :D Anyway who kill someone have to pay. imho

Was wondering what was happening in this case shame i think we all know he wont get sentenced to death even though he deserves it.

I was there to install a new pool pump not long before he was arrested & there was no smell but earlier reports suggested he added lime or something else to combat the smell.

why not just put body in sea ? just saying like . its a strange one , like why didnt he even go to police after his wife fell even though it was his fault ? stupid !!

Don't believe they ever executed a westerner in Thailand, or am I wrong?

Unlikely he would be sentenced to death. The Norwegian government would protest strongly.

Yes no doubt, indeed, the strongest protest too, they even might go as far as

stop all norwegians tourists from coming to Thailand,,,Hmmm, there is thought...

never trust the maid, lol

I notice strange smells around anything having to do with Thai justice, and Thai utterances no matter how long before, during or after. It doesn't seem to matter what a person did, but more the outcome of the 3-ring circus they call a judicial system. Regarding the man and what actually happened, this whole affair is F.U.B.A.R. from the git-go.

so a Thai murderer get release on bail but death is require for this Norwegian ? Strange justice .. I dont excuse this guy of course , any murderers regardless of their nationality should have the same treatment.

Unlikely he would be sentenced to death. The Norwegian government would protest strongly.

It would be a very good wake up call for Norway if he was executed.

There is no doubt at all he killed her, he has already admitted to that on several occasions. The only discussion point is that the prosecution claims it is murder and he claims it was an accident.

I don't know, but if so, it wouldn't hurt if he got the chop. The arrogance and complacency of some Westerners needs to be met with a clear message.

my my, how the comments have quitened down from when he was first arrested and locked up, everyone forgot now??????

Dokset was asked today by the Norwegian newspaper VG, how long sentence he thought he`ll get.

3-4 years was his answer..

That will take quite some amount of money, I guess.

Wouldn`t it be good if they just convicted him for what he did for once..

Could easily be he is right. If the prosecution is convinced it is not murder and accepts his accident story 10 years could be the conviction. Half of for admitting to the charge means 5 years, minus time served and he'll be out in no time.

Spare a thought for the 3 kids referred to who are without both parents now (if he was their Father that is). Sad. sad.png

Why would you put her body in your own dumpster....just saying, tht is not the smartest way to hide something like this.

Could possibly be the truth too, but hiding the body that way would certainly not help his case. But it will probably end up with a sentence like that.

He has NOT claimed he ''killed'' her. rolleyes.gif

And a good wake up call for anyone not Thai...

First he claimed she hit her head against a wall during an arguement, then, he changed his story and claimed she fell down the stairs.

He couldn't risk her body being found as the seven properties that he got rental incomes from were in her name. If the body was found, her children would have inherited the properties and his income stream would end.

I reckon he murdered her in a jealous rage when she refused to get back with him. Reckon she threatened to take the properties away.
