Belgian found dead in his South Pattaya Apartment

dead-1.jpg

PATTAYA: -- On Wednesday the body of a 57 year old Belgian was found in his 3rd floor apartment in South Pattaya and although no obvious signs of a disturbance in the room or injuries to the victim were seen, the cause of death remains unexplained for now.

Police were called to The Loft Condominium on the Pratamnuk Hill following the discovery of the occupant of room number 303 on the 3rd floor.

He was named as Mr. Andre Petrus Germaine Arbyn who had been renting the room for more than 1 year according to staff at the condominium.

He was found lying on the floor in the bedroom and was partially clothed. It is thought he had been dead for at least 2 days and staff confirmed the last time he was seen was on 27th April.

He was known as a quiet man who would rarely leave his condo and was found after a foul odor was noticed in the 3rd floor corridor by other residents.

Because the vast majority retire in Phuket or Pattaya?

How does your statement apply to this topic?

Wrong. More faranags die in American cities than in Pattaya or Phuket. Why isn't the American government investigating all these farang deaths in the USA? Surely millions can't be dying of natural causes. Very disturbing. Don't visit America if you're a farang, as it's the world capital of farang deaths. Stay safe.

Difference is deaths of non-nationals in the US would be investigated. Here in Thailand ther are simply swept under the rug.

I know DaveJones is trying to make a point but it's silly logic. What's the percentage of foreign deaths in the US compared to Thailand? Base this on those who are visiting as short term tourists and long term residents and then you have a chance of comparing apples with apples. I don't experience Thailand as being particularly dangerous for Farangs but that doesn't mean that it isn't.

Agreed mate without breakdowns of the stats they are pointless.

Like everything in life your opinion is based on experiance. Living in Pattaya for 10 yers might change your view on the dangers for tourists in Thailand!

Note to Self: Scratch Pattaya and Phuket off Vacation list. Oh, wait, I already did that 5 years ago.

Ok, on the serious side, it seems that hardly a week goes by without another farang dying in P & P. And so far this week the number is 4 and counting. All of these people, and I would venture to say, even the majority of them, didn't come here in a depressed state to end their life, or die from "natural causes". Unfortunately, because this IS Thailand, the majority of their deaths will never be fully, or even competently investigated, because it is simply easier for the authorities to cite "suicide" or "natural causes".

In this case, the man is 57, and at this point there is no mention of any prior medical condition that might have caused his death. Only a proper autopsy and investigation into his past will provide that. 57 isn't old by any means, but, yes, people younger have died from heart attacks, so that isn't totall improbable. But I would be willing to bet that if an autopsy is done correctly, and they were to find he had been administered some drug - such as something a bar girl or prostitute might administer to "knock out" their victim - it will never be revealed to the public, as that would mean the BiB would have to make a half hearted attempt to find the person, and let's face it, we all know that's not going to happy. Result: Died of natural causes.

The bottom line is that there seems to be an inordinate number of farang "dying" in both of these cities, but in most cases, we will never know the real reasons.

RIP

If it is not obvious than no investigation is needed. How many foreigners die every year in Pattaya and in Phuket and how compare those numbers with other tourist resorts worldwide? Not that any figure will be accurate, the former Greek director of the statistical bureau must be working in Thailand.

No-one seems to recognise what you're saying here, never mind, only to be expected, a bit early in the day perhaps for sarcasm.

People who retire get old then they die be it through illness or just old age. As the article says it's likely to be natural causes, that is how the statement applies to the topic. Or should I have come up with a Sherlock Holmes conspiracy theory that he was murdered in the dinning room with a candle stick?.

The man was 57 , I think we need to know more about what happened , was he a drug abuser ? Did he have a girlfriend? Suicidal ?

Lets hope his relaitives will get all the answers.

Maybe he just died of natural causes. No mystery, no cover up just a plain old simple death because it does happen people. Wherever you are if it is your time then it's bye bye world.coffee1.gif

First of all, condolence to his family and friends. RIP Andre Petrus, I hope the Belgian will order a post mortem in their country. My friend's friend died in Pattaya/Bangkok Hospital after collapsing at his villa home, died two weeks later . Post Mortem in Dublin at the request of his family, found he was poisoned. That is a true story. That was about 3 years ago.

And your proof for that (nonsense) statement is?

Is the man not allowed to just die?

Is it impossible for a man in his 50's to merely die of natural causes?

Or is every death of a foreigner in Thailand obliged to be dealt with by puerile speculation?

Get a grip.

I totally agree with you, TB.

Only 57, not old enough to be retired, unless he had done so early.

No indication of medication found (if there is,it is normally mentioned)....

Of course it is. Retirement extensions and visas for Thailand on offer starting at age FIFTY.

Pretty hard to die of natural causes at age 57.........

Because it is Pattaya and it is Thailand there will always be the element of doubt when it comes to these sort of deaths.

We know these deaths aren't really investigated and we know that life is cheap in Pattaya and farangs have been drugged, poisoned , pushed off balconies, murdered etc in the past so every death always has that element of doubt even if no foul play is involved.
