Still popular in some parts of the country, especially where they don't chill the beer too much. Keeps the barely cool beer coooler. Why not just chill it a bit more?!?

Still popular in many parts of Australia where the outside temperature is in the high 30's plus. The handle helps to keep the icy cold beverage cold.

I have a genuine Guinness Pint glass with handle, it was liberated from a pub in Ireland. It was explained to me at the time it is served in a glass with a hand to help prevent the Guiness from getting cold.

ps re the Guiness, in Ireland there are many 'purists' that will only drink their Guiness from a straight glass - And I mean no curves at all, dead straight.
