Villagers in two provinces at the opposite ends of Thailand are celebrating the births of mutant piglets – after successfully using the lucky freaks to divine winning lottery numbers.

The first queer porker was born in a village in the Lamplaimat District in Buriram Province in the Northeast.

The animal had five legs, two tongues and fangs sticking out of its mouth. Its feet, rather than having trotters, were capped with five eerily human toes.

Choi Saenram, 67, said when he saw that the pig was not like the rest of the litter, he took it from its mother and began looking after it, feeding it milk continuously. But because it was such a bizarre creature, it died around 3pm the same day.

The second mutant arrived in the world the following day in a village in the Sichon District in Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province.

It had two heads, two mouths, two tongues and three eyes, and was likely the result of twins that failed to separate properly in the womb.

Owner Phisamai Pharasathit said the piglet, one of a litter of nine, was alive when it was born but soon died because it wouldn’t drink its mother’s milk.

In both cases, local villagers flocked to see the mutants in order to divine lottery numbers, as is standard when Thai country folk discover unusual animal births.

And in both cases several villagers chose the winning number, 687125, in the lottery draw.

Those who won made sure to prostrate themselves in front of the dead mutant corpses to acknowledge the piglets' role in bringing them such good fortune.

I am actually far more interested in how a bunch of villagers divined the number 687125 from two separate mutant pigs. I really want to know the answer. I think we should be told. This could reveal a hitherto unknown advanced technology.

I've seen this type of story a few times. Where do the numbers come from? I would like to know the mathematical formula for deriving lucky lottery numbers from mutants. I may be able to retire early.

Thai people make me laugh sometimes. It seems like any kind of life situation will bring good lottery luck.

Those farmers should keep the mutants in a jar to show it to the tourist for 100baht each.They are gonna make more money than winning the lottery.:-)

Looks like maybe the farmer was slipping the odd one in Miss Piggy.

...and in other news across the country the link between pollution from fertilizers and other chemical treatments used in agriculture and birth defects for both animals and humans living in affected areas remains an unsolved mystery with neither manufacturers or controlling governmental departments wishing to investigate or follow the bans seen in the developed world.

On a more serious note anyone living in rural Thailand will know people that have birth defects of one type or another, if visiting the larger hospitals take a trip to the specimen lab. As a smartly dressed farang it's not hard to get a tour, if you have a strong stomach, to range of human birth defects is quite shocking. NB leave the ladies at home for this one.

yes it is safe to use pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, hormones, antibiotics and heavy metals, here in thailand

A lot of people on this forum will probably go on and on about the superstitioius Thai people.. But as we all know, other countries have their strange story's also.. Here's one from ...er...... er..... oh never mind.. hard to beat this one.

I disagree. Even without pictures the description of the piglet brings back fond thoughts and memories of my early life as a young lad living on my grandfather's farm. Also, it reminds me of my former mother-in-law back in the 'old country.' Not a complaint about her or the farm, but rather an indictment of my own poor judgment in picking my first and second loves.... :-{}
