BANGKOK, Sept 8 - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra left Bangkok today on an official trip to several European countries intending to enhance bilateral relations and boost trade and investment.

The premier will start her eight-day official visit to the Eurpean countries with Switzerland. She is scheduled to attend the 24th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva where she will deliver Thailand's stance on dealing with human rights violations including human trafficking and the protection of children and women.

Italy is her second destination. This will be the first official visit to the republic by a Thai prime minister in nine years. The two countries have had close relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties 145 years ago.

Ms Yingluck will meet with her Italian counterpart Mario Monti. The leaders will discuss promotion of the jewellery trade and the design industry, as well as the rubber market. Thailand is the world's leading producer of natural rubber.

The Thai premier aims to invite Italian investors to the kingdom. She is accompanied by representatives of 56 Thai companies seeking business there.

In Vatican City, Ms Yingluck will pay respects to the leader of the Roman Catholic faith. The meeting will be the second visit to the Vatican by a Thai leader, the first 58 years ago by Field Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram.

Ms Yingluck will visit Montenegro next Friday and Saturday, where she will become the first Thai prime minister to visit the country.

Thailand intends to boost relations with Montenegro and seeks to open trade and investment opportunities with the Balkan country.

Ms Yingluck will also witness the signing ceremony of an agreement on visa exemptions for Thai and Montenegrin diplomats and state officials, paving the way for further cooperation in other sectors. (MCOT online news)

A little mistake in the news.....italian prime minister is not Mario Monti anymore (was a year ago....) but Enrico Letta.

Montenegro! well lots of mafia, human trafficking, need we say more!

Strange how Madam Prime Minister is absent when crucial matter are to be dealt with, thus big sister comes in to wield the poleaxe on reluctant tardy P.T.P. members and their cronies in the coalition parties.

Yet again we plainly see that Yingluck is no more than a political gaw gaw.

And yet again we see just how enlightened the Thai's are regarding other states political leaders.

Guys give her a break!!! Part of the job.

I feel confident Ms. Yingluck will include how her government takes care of the Rohingya people by pushing their boats out to sea and also the fate of the Karen girl and speedy prosecution of her torturers.

Things are getting hot in Parliament, with the debate/pushthebillthroughwithoutadebate over the Amnesty Bill going on. She's just heading out for a cooler climate!

Actually is she the 1st PM to visit Montenegno? Perhaps that should read the first elected, as opposed to De Facto, PM to visit Montenegro.

Guys give her a break!!! Part of the job.

Does she not have a Foreign Minister, for this sort of thing ?

Or are her airmiles getting close to a status-upgrade ?

Montenegro pay back time for the passport for Thaksin. I wonder what the Montenegrans are getting or will Thaksin welch on the deal? He has some history of doing stuff like that.

I guess she is trying to get to as many countries as she can while being PM before being thrown out of office :)

Has anyone yet actually stated how many trips she HAS taken ??? and another 56 (business reps) are traveling with her BUT who are they-would be interesting to know. Anymore hangers on going that are not mentioned ??? some more cabinet travelers also ??

Is the foreign minister only traveling out of BKK to foreign provinces in Thailand ??

He then is the internal foreign minister.

Maybe she is going there to meet brother Thaksin as he is a Montenegrian with a Montenegrian passport?

The kitchen is heating up. I wonder if she will apply for a Montenegno passport while she is there just in case.

At least she's getting the tricky human rights bit out of the way first. She'll need a nice break after that.

Don't tell me she's after a Vatican passport for him....now that is pushing it

One thought former Prime Ministers for Australia Rudd and Gillard, took the royal order of the Pork barrel with their frequent trips over sea's , but madam PM Yingluck Shinawatra takes the chocolate puppet cake award as the most travelled Prime Minister for convenience ,as per the agreement from Dubai .bah.gif

Yingluck chatting with Pope Frank?

That sounds like a massive clash of styles.

Does anyone know what the PMs favourite song ??? 'I'm leaving on a jet plane'

Read elsewhere that she had made 56 overseas trips to 41 countries in 2 years, not counting this one.

About 1 trip every 2 weeks.

Ms Yingluck will also witness the signing ceremony of an agreement on visa exemptions for Thai and Montenegrin diplomats and state officials, paving the way for further cooperation in other sectors.

I see she has done this everywhere she has gone.

Could it be because they gave big brother a diplomatic passport?

Re trips abroad, 1 trip every 2 weeks BUT that isn't I day a trip, so we average out then how many days abroad.

Sounds reasonable. The vatican always appreciates donations.

Isn't one of her brothers current passports from there. Maybe meet with brother to try and figure out how to out get of the mess the PTP is currently in? And make some money while their at it.
