Gee, North have done well so out of FA.

Waite and Higgins are a big plus.

I wonder if that will be enough to propel them into the top 4?

They can have Goodes if they want. Apparently he is playing on an extra year. w.t-f?

Looks like Tim Members may be heading to St Kilda. Don't know anything about him

Tim Membrey is a 190cm 90 kg forward, 20 years of age. He has played the last 2 years in the NEAFL, kicking about 50 goals each season. Only played one game for the Swans this season. Draft pick 47

Bit disappointing he is going. Was hoping the Swans could have canned Goodes and given Membrey a go in the Seniors.

They have done okay in trading and haven't let too many decent players go in recent times, so I guess Swans supporters will just have to trust the process.

Yup officially requested the trade about 20 mins ago...

Be interesting to see what the Saints will give us.

P.S we're not taking Schneider, Dempster or Dennis-Lane back :P

Interesting fact.

Sydney offloaded Trent Denis Lane to St Kilda and received pick 46.

With pick 46 Sydney took Tim Membrey

Sydney is now looking at trading Membrey back to St Kilda. tongue.png

Why are we keeping Shaw and not offering Malceski a 3 year deal?

Suns have also offered Malco a 3 year deal..

Frawley's officially a Hawk, signing a 4 year deal. Hawks hopeful he can extend that to 5-6.

Apparently Dockers are interested in Butterfingers... Could be interesting..

Can't see us getting anything decent from Freo in return for Reid..

But please, trade him away..package Goodes in with the deal

Simple really. Shaw wanted 1 year Malco wanted 3 (he was offered 2 + 1 [performance based extension]) I still think he'll take it, Reid gets traded that frees up a fair bit of coin to offer more $$$

Interesting also today with the Father-Son and academy bids put in...

Dees went after Swans Academy player Isaac Heeney with Pick 2, Swans got their man though via Pick 17 - word on the soi about Heeney is that he would've gone in the top 3 picks, so seems like a pretty handy pick up for the Swans. Sydney also picked up Academy player Jack Hiscox, who looks like a good prospect and has a huge tank taking out the 3km time trial with a new best time (in AFL history) of 9m 18s and equal top in the beep test (2nd best time in AFL history)

I'm sure Eddie's going to be quite vocal about this later in the week :P

Both good pick ups. Not surprised Roos/Melbourne forced that one early.

No doubt Eddie will have a spat about it. Still a lot of good players available from the Academy system though.

Big mistake if they get rid of it, or taking away the incentives for the NSW/QLD clubs to run an academy.

Yeah I now, but Shaw is 32, Malceski just turned 30 so i can't see the difference really.

The 2+1 is fair enough.

Alex Johnson's injury was probably the deciding factor in Shaw getting an extra year.

Malco's knee may also have been a deciding factor in the Swans offer.

I really feel for Johnson...he was tipped to be a gun player.

I don't now if he will be able to make it back to AFL level.

It's hard to believe the club is still procrastinating over this.

I wonder how they would react if Bomber Thompson forced their hand.

I reckon hird has lost all credibility and find it unfathomable the club hasn't

replaced him.

Especially when last week all signs (well Caroline Wilson was hahaha... God I can't stand that woman) were pointing to Hird getting the boot.

Was having a chat with Somchai at the som tum cart this morning, he's speculating that Hird's holding something over Little's head and if he's given the arse then he'll drop the Bomber's right in it.

Yes of course, Hird does have something over the Bombers, and one of the things is if he should win the appeal he could sue the pants off of essendon and the afl and he would.

The guy is a budding business heavy weight he isnt going to take this and he will fight every appeal to either win or water it down, thats how they do it.

Like the way Lance Armstrong denied he wasn't on the gear for how many years and then retired and then spilled his guts on Oprah?

Certainly heading in that direction... Though don't think Australia has a TV show equivalent, a Ray Martin exclusive perhaps? :P

Eagles loom as destination for Varcoe

WEST Coast has emerged as the main suitor for Geelong midfielder Travis Varcoe.

Varcoe is contracted to the Cats next season but both player and club are exploring their options.

"Obviously Travis played 23 games this year for Geelong and he's contracted, so we're under no illusions if he is to move it's got to appease what Geelong wants and obviously what Travis wants," Varcoe's manager Tom Petroro said on NAB AFL Trade Radio.

Kildare Gaelic footballer Sean Hurley will begin pre-season training with the Fremantle Dockers in mid-November after initially trialing with the AFL club last year.

Hurley is a towering midfielder for Kildare, standing at 196cm.

The 22-year-old Irishman will join Fremantle as a Category B rookie. Clubs are allowed one Irish player under this category.

Hurley will arrive in Perth in early November and start pre-season with the 1-4 year group on Monday 17 November.

Documentation confirming Hurley’s addition to Fremantle’s list is due to be signed off by the AFL at the end of the month.

Saints hopeful they can have Gilbert running by December

ST KILDA is hopeful Sam Gilbert will be running by Christmas after the luckless defender underwent another bout of surgery on his troublesome left foot.

The 28-year-old had seemingly put the complaint he initially suffered last pre-season behind him to play three AFL games towards the end of the season.

But he broke down again in round 22 and consulted Sydney-based surgeon Kim Slater – a foot and ankle specialist – which led to revision surgery.

Garlett asks for trade to Melbourne

SPEEDY forward Jeff Garlett has requested a trade to Melbourne after 107 games and 183 goals with Carlton.

The Blues made it clear it wanted to trade the 25-year-old at the end of the season after he failed to tell the club he was involved in an altercation outside a Melbourne nightclub.

Garlett kicked just 12 goals in nine games in 2014, but he has twice managed more than 40 goals in a season.

He kicked at least 29 goals in each of the four years before this season.

That's a tall midfielder Ron. How do you see him fitting into the side?

I wouldn't like to comment on that at the moment.I would rather wait to see how he pans out.For what ever reason he has been tagged a midfielder would have been done by people that know more about him than I.Also that may be what he was classed as when playing Gaelic football and could well change if he plays AFL.

Roo midfielder Greenwood requests a trade to Collingwood

NORTH Melbourne midfielder Levi Greenwood has requested a trade to Collingwood, less than four days after finishing third in the Roos' 2014 best and fairest award.

It's believed the Magpies have offered Greenwood a four-year deal worth $1.8 million.
The Roos recently offered the uncontracted 25-year-old an improved three-year deal that they hoped would convince him to stay at Aegis Park.

Horse on Trade Radio, Reid and Mitchell not going anywhere. Shaw 100% confirmed for next season. Looks like Gary Rohan or Jeremy Laidler will slot into Malco's position (I did forget about Laidler). Palmed off the Membrey trade to list maestro Kinnear Beatson, so might get done, might not.

Not looking to get involved in trade week (which funnily enough was what they said the previous 2 trade weeks and we all know the rest is history as far as that is concerned) as far as they're concerned they're pretty happy with the outcomes of the Academy acquisitions.

We desperately need a key position defender.

Laidler is okay, but he will only ever be okay.

Rohan has a lot of potential. I'll forgive him that horrendous GF game and that horrendous kick in..and that horrendous game near the end of the season tongue.png.

Rohan began life as a forward, so maybe Membrey could slot down back? w00t.gif
