webfact Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Red Shirts urge Yingluck to stay on as caretaker PMBy Digital ContentBANGKOK, Dec 9 - The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), Thailand's Red Shirt movement, today asked Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra not to back down as anti-government protesters demand that she step down as caretaker prime minister.Key UDD leaders jointly announced the group's stance at a news conference here after the premier's announcement on a House dissolution, saying that the UDD leaders respected the premier's decision.Jatuporn Prompan said the House dissolution is meant to return power to the people. But the UDD asked Ms Yingluck not to quit her caretaker position for fear that would lead to a political vacuum and toward protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban's way."Mr Suthep acts as if he is beyond parliamentary democracy. The UDD will never ever give up and let go of Thailand and democracy to him," Mr Jatuporn said, adding that the protest leader wants to stir turmoil so that he can evade being tried on the murder charges in connection to the 2010 Red Shirt protests.Red Shirts will postpone their rally scheduled for tomorrow in the central province of Ayutthaya pending the latest stance of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) led by Mr Suthep, Mr Jatuporn said.If the PDRC does not stop undermining the country's democracy, the UDD will call a mass rally in the next few days to protect democracy resulting in a large number of reds coming out on the streets, the Red Shirt leader warned, but said the upcoming gathering of the reds will not confront with those of their rival. He also thanked Army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha for pledging that the military would not stage any new putsch. TVGerry Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Yes stay on at caretaker PM. Do like your brother did in 2006! 2
Popular Post aguy30 Posted December 9, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2013 Why can't the arrogant red shirt fools understand that the protests will only continue up to and after the election if they place a Shinawatra in the PM or any position? The Shinatwatras must leave politics for calm to return to Thailand. 3
gemini81 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Let her, so she can be more of an imbecile when speaking, and lose more face, like the cnn and al jazeera interviews, have a nervous breakdown, twitch & spasm & kiss this world goodbye. Now THAT is a Thai happy ending, 2
seajae Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 off course they want that otherwise how many of them will be jailed for what they did in 2010, they are craven cowards and are simply trying to get away with what they have done and caused. An independant leader will have them all arrested and they are absolutely shi**ing themselves.

If that is the case I guess you are saying that the result of a democratic vote should be ignored? 6
tomross46 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Some of the PT and Red Shirts have large outstanding purchases they need to cover. If the Dynasty is not leading the government how can they pay their bills? OH! that was a misconception, they had no intent to pay, let the tax payer pay.

Popular Post DiamondKing Posted December 9, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2013 Seems a little silly to move out of Goverment House only to have to move back in in 2 months after the elections are held 6
Popular Post Siripon Posted December 9, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2013 Red shirts, please grow up and stop pandering to a family of millionaires. Try to find your own leaders for inspiration. Can you? 3

I think that is a very, very, good idea. One person was shot dead and at least 35 wounded late Saturday as anti-government demonstrators clashed with Red Shirts in the area around the stadium, according to emergency services.

But too bad that they dont have the balls for seppuku...
RickBradford Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Let's have Chalerm as acting PM; he's about the only person in Thailand who could make the people wish for a return of the Thaksin family cabal. 2
marinediscoking Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Doesn't matter who the UDD nominates for PM, the opposition will never accept him/her! As far as they are concerned, they are all Shinawatras. 1

Popular Post Prbkk Posted December 9, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2013 I hope she stays on in a caretaker role. She has been a steady hand at the wheel over these past few weeks. I hope that continues until the election. At least people have the choice on Feb 2 3
lemoncake Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I do not reallY get it, The red shirts keep issuing ultimatums and statements, but keep on cancelling the rally's They keep on claiming the support, only hardly any show up Everytime, things start to look hot, they run away and hide and again start to throw around threats. Since they are so strong and popular, any reason why they failed to gather numbers? failed to support the puppets and cancelled each and every planned demonstration?

A1Str8 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Red shirts, please grow up and stop pandering to a family of millionaires. Try to find your own leaders for inspiration. Can you? No, they can't. That's why the are called red shirts. They are famous for being retarded. 1

I think they have learned from the past (including last weekend) that it is dangerous to expose themselves to the violence of the other side and better to resolve things at the ballot 2

She would not have been my choice as leader, but she has done well in the crisis( not in rice pledging and other financial policies) 1

DrTuner Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I took a quick look at the pic on the OP and thought "Well, Yingluck's certainly aged during the protests". They really ought to change her for a fresher Shina, but no legitimate young female offspring in the clan ?
gemini81 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Let's have Chalerm as acting PM; he's about the only person in Thailand who could make the people wish for a return of the Thaksin family cabal. It is hard to act when you're having an alcoholic seizure.

They have only an oligarchy of incompetent puppets to defend on their backs. What else does your pub gal have to say? Can we talk to her directly, or just her spokesperson?
rubl Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 1. UDD urges, not the 'red shirts' 2. UDD president Ms. Thida has forgotten the just stepped down government tried to push through a 'blanket amnesty bill' which would really block all the UDD clammour on 'justice, punish guilty' and the like. 3. UDD vouched to 'defend/protect the/their government'. Failed somewhat, wouldn't you say? Mind you, I must admit I'm not really sure what the 'defend' implied. 4.A 'caretaker' government takes care of the 'daily, normal things', nothing controversial.
