Lite Beer
Suthep reportedly meets top brassBANGKOK: -- Suthep Thaugsuban, secretary general of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), reportedly had a secret meeting with military top brass Tuesday afternoon, Thai Rath online reported Tuesday. The online said the report that Army Chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha sent a car to pick him up to a military base, was still unconfirmed. When asked by reporters about the meeting, Suthep just smiled. At the meeting, former Defence Minister General Pravit Wongsuwan and former Commander in Chief Gen Anupong Paochinda were also presentThe meeting took place before Suthep made his daily speech today. The online also quoted its high-rannking source as saying that the meeting seemed to be not possible as the ongoing conflicts are between Suthep and caretaker premier, so they themselves should settle them. -- The Nation 2013-12-
ratcatcher
More intrigue. The plot thickens. Will they, won't they? Surely to god, Suthep should be leaving the army base in manacles or is he just too hot to handle at this moment?. Surely to god, Suthep should be leaving the army base in manacles or is he just too hot to handle at this moment?. Anupong is back out into view? Thaksin showing up un-announced and particularly unwanted at the Generals mothers funeral has always left a void that can't be closed for the Shin clan and the Generals clan The photo of the wai below the naval by Gen. Prem to Thaksin is legendary. Well that does likely mean bigger things are in play. Yes, arresting Suthep would light a powder keg with a short fuse. But also it's not the army tasked with arresting Suthep, but the police. Based on orders that may or may not be considered legal in 3 weeks. If the government refused to obey the Constitution Courts rulings, does that make them illegal from that point on? A hotly debatable point now, but the winners tend to determine the rules retroactively in Thailand.. Did the meeting take place? Denial often means truth but not fully admitted here in LOS. Land Of Side-Speak But I understand that government house currently is guarded by the army, so the meeting might be to assur Suthep that if the police try to arrest him, he will get a little help from his friends. Or that they are ready to back him in case he doesn't reach his goal, which is oust the Shinawatra's.

Land Of Side-Speak The army have been central to this whole thing from the beginning. They have been orchestrating everything from.minute one. The people council is to elegant for Suthep to have thought up alone. The army and Suthep have been marshalling this along from the first moment.

Popular Post FangFerang
As a Bangkok reporter noted, Suthep is not stupid. That means he has had backers, very wealthy backers, from day one. I sincerely hope this does not backfire on the power players. It probably will. No more open battles, the red loonies learned from 2010...guerilla warfare is the next option, and a VERY bad one. I pray for peace here, and seem to be quite alone in that. I would love to be wrong on this one, I swear to God and the Lord Buddha himself. But think about it. Thaksin has the money for insurgents and weaponry. With the state of the military and police control here, it would be almost TOO easy... How much meth and heroin comes through the Triangle? Hm? All because someone is being paid. What if they start bringing in mortars, hand grenades and rpg's? TOO easy to do here. I think we are seeing a coming round of late night, unidentified black shirt bombings in Bangkok (I cannot capitalize black shirts here, in good conscience). It won't happen right away after a coup, maybe three weeks later one kabang, then another, then another.... I am certainly not advocating this, it is chaos and anarchy, but if misled oppressed people have no choice than to be stupid to attempt and break the status quo, they will be very stupid (and smart about being stupid). It has happened in too many countries. The military is staying out of this.... but now secret meetings, a 'people's coup', unconstitutional measures because TS has a thirst for power and Bangkok and many others are sick of it? This is a serious problem. Again, resume rants. I am worried asbout my wife and child. The leaders of this power grab are not thinking about next month or next year, they are shining in the short-lived glory of today...and it is a recipe that makes the South look like Nirvana. Fools.

Nibbles48
So the hint is out. This 'convenient' leak has hit the street. The tongues are wagging. This is a nice little discreet shot across the bows for YL and the PTP. 'It's your move'.... we suggest you take this opportunity to step down and say it is in the people's interests to stop the protests... I am doing this for Thailand'... That's it... there's a good girl, now you look good in defeat. Just the PTP to follow suit, then it's time for the overhaul. Well done Suthep, I knew you were cunning from the start. I take my hat off to you. You win.
spirit47
The interior minister offers bullets or a new election to the anti Government Protestors. He have the power to order police sharp shooting. If this happen, and I think he is crazy enough, there will be Blood. It would be better, the army intervene directly. Nibbles48
Last week he claimed that the Air Force were plotting to kill him........... go figure....... That was actually 'sort of' true.. It was all over the social media some air force officer insanely said at an interview, 'I have my gun here, just tell me and I will kill Suthep'. There were even photos etc. Not exactly a plot, but more of a stupid public threat. These are the sort of silly incidents that the 'controlled' media tend to hold back on. wilailuk
The problem is that they are all Chinese, not Thai! My wife from Nong Khod outside Nakhon Sawan is Thai, and the Chinese live in NS, sucking the blood and money out of the locals. That´s the ultimate problem and conflict in Thailand. Suggestion: Split up, make two: Red and a yellow / Thai and Chinese. - or there will be blood, I guarantee you...
