Tower of Power...killer horn section which for decades has set the standard for R&B, funk and soul bands. Maybe I'm a bit biased since I was a music performance major in college playing the trumpet and made a living doing it for a few years. The current lead sax player of TOP is a guy I went to school with and did some gigs with him many years ago. All that aside, the lyrics of their charts are great and their overall musicianship and class is tough to beat. They always have a lead singer who puts to shame any singer of today's pop, hip-hop crap bands.

Perhaps this one for me.

Christopher Walken again

Agree fully - one of the best tunes and dramas ever made.

Chicago/electric blues for stretching the emotions to their limits. Ecstasy.

Just so we are clear what the OP is about it's ...

Musically, what defines you? Well closest you can do!

Not, what music you may like ... there's other threads for that.

Pick a tune, some have chosen two, that says it's you ... and post it ... thumbsup.gif

.

I'm tone deaf.

As am I ... but that doesn't stop us celebrating life!

So, assuming there is life still in the 'ole ThaidDown ... may I humbly suggest that this is a window to your musical soul?

I defy any who is not toe tapping now!

Yes; I LOVE that; and also this:

Jethro Tull: Too old to rock 'n roll, too young to die! ( tongue.png )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=tD9ME52HKDY

I'm a Tull Fan, though sadly, never seem them in concert.

I see how that could be a song that defines you.

For those those unfamiliar with the lyrics ...

Too old to rock 'n roll, too young to die

The old rocker wore his hair too long

Wore his trouser cuffs too tight

Unfashionable to the end drank his ale too light

Death's head belts buckle, yesterday's dreams

The transport caf' prophet of doom

Ringing no change in his double sewn seams

In his post-war babe gloom

Now he's too old to rock 'n' roll

But he's too young to die

Yes, he's too old to rock 'n' roll

But he's too young to die

He once owned a Harley Davidson

And a triumph Bonneville

Counted his friends in burned out spark plugs

And prays that he always will

But he's the last of the blue blood greasers boys

And all of his mates are doing time

Married with three kids up by the ring road

Sold their souls straight down the line

And some of them own little sports cars

And meet at the tennis club do's

For drinks on a Sunday, work on Monday

They've thrown away their blue suede shoes

Now they're too old to rock 'n' roll

And they're too young to die

And they're too old to rock 'n' roll

And they're too young to die

So the old rocker gets out his bike

To make a ton before he takes his leave

Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner

Just like it used to be

And as he flies, tears in his eyes

His wind-whipped words echo the final take

And he hits the trunk road doing around a 120

With no room left to brake

And he was too old to rock 'n' roll

But he was too young to die

He was too old to rock 'n' roll

And he was too young to die

No, you're never too old to rock 'n' roll

If you're too young to die

No, you're never too old to rock 'n' roll

But he was too young to die

If I had to have a Tull song to define me, it would be Songs From the Wood,

though friends might say that Thick as a Brick might be a better descriptor ... dry.png

Since we are at that time ... I never knew until recently Tull had a Christmas Song.

I see there's room in my collection for a Thaivisa cd now. You all have excellant ears!

For a long time: this ! especially the "she's got a boyfriend, anyways"- part...

...also this...

...but lately, especially with what is going on here...

Way, way, way too eclectic.

Roy Orbison could have sung the telephone directory, for me (although he was from the generation before mine as quality is, quite simply, age and timeless).

But two that always float my boat are:

My Life

and the inspirational:

Something Inside

I just did.

See above.

Orbison I like to listen to.

I hope my choices define me, though.

Oh yeah (how could I dismiss this?) - he sounds like me, too:
