Pheu Thai denies offering 50-million baht bounty for Suthep’s death

BANGKOK: -- The Pheu Thai party has denied a press report that the party has offered a 50-million baht reward for anyone who kills protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban.

In a press conference held on Wednesday, Pheu Thai party leader Charupong Ruangsuwan denied he signed a document published by the press instructing red-shirt followers to provoke violence in order to force the military to endorse the invocation of the emergency decree to cope with the protests.

In the same document, it was alleged that the Pheu Thai party had set a 50-million baht bounty for the death of Suthep.

Charupong said that the document was fake and was meant to demonise the Pheu Thai party and to provoke chaos in the country.

Meanwhile, Ms Sunisa Lertpakawat, the government’s deputy spokesperson, accused ill-intent elements of trying to tarnish the reputation of the Pheu Thai party and to provoke misunderstanding among the protesters.

She also denied that the party was behind the incident at a press conference held by the Democrat party on Tuesday to present its reform blueprint in which a man blew a whistle at Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva and criticized the party.

there was 50k bounty for capturing suthep, but this one is just a made up story. In the case of violence during occupation of bangkok, military would make a coup.

btw there are most probably millions of thai who would kill suthep with their bare hands for free

Is this because the military chef came to say that if there is violence next week, the mighty PTP government need to take responsibility?

I hope they chicken out so that not many people are going to be killed.

This is about as real as the tape in which Abhisit ordered the military to kill red shirts.

Paid in bags of rice?

Why would the PTP need any help in tarnishing their reputation? I assumed that their reputation couldn't get any worse.

.... one of [Lyndon B] Johnson's favorite jokes is about a popular Texas sheriff running for reelection whose opponents decide to spread a rumor that he f**ks pigs: “We know he doesn't, but let's make the son of a bitch deny it.”

Similar to the old "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" question.

Really, the mental age of these people should be measured in dog-years, or rather the other way around.

Ms Sunisa Lertpakawat, the government’s deputy spokesperson.

Where is Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit now?

So guess if you say it's propaganda it must be - no doubts about it seeing as how you are so well informed on all matters red.

Where is Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit now?

Probably in hiding like most of the PTP super-stars.

As laughable as Thaksin's offer of B10 million for info leading to the arrest of the Central World arsonists.

Another con from Pinocchio, the puppet master.

You mention the military chef and chicken in one sentence. Is pad krapow gai kai dao on the menu?

50 million baht paid to murder our Khun Suthep, then followed by a 50 year prison sentence, that`s 1 million baht for each year served.

Sounds like a great deal to me. OK then, who`s willing to take up the offer?

How many times does the administration need to cry wolf before anyone notices that there is already a wolf present ?

Lets hope hi is in jail serving his one year centense.

Sounds expensive.

No, disagree. I think for these 2, it's question of what can we make out of the leftovers and who will give us a hand. There is still that option, even before Monday

The offer is way to high. He is not worth the cost of a bullet. A rope and tree are all you need.

Not in prison serving the sentence he was given.

Where did you read they were the source of this news?

Further to that question, as the OP doesn't state which press source published the news nor the source the press used, it would nice if they did report it so that wholly unvalidated speculations such as the above could be avoided.

A 50 year sentence is reserved for siphoning off tea money from the police pay pot - down from 800 years for remorse and payback.

Suthep's big Superstars, are just starting to come out, on the other hand. Wait until Northern People see their beloved Carabao support the Anti Government Protesters. No amount of money, will bring them down to Bangkok to fight, with Carabao on the other side. ;-)

50million baht.... meh.

the people of thailand and the election box speak louder than that.

but its the estimated 200million baht damage to the economy that most people are worried about.

seems like a no brainer.
