Popular Post geriatrickid
Oh my, an estimated 10,000 people joined him. So much for the millions then. If Suthep doesn't have at least 1 million or even a few hundred thousand and can only muster 50,000 in total, he's not going to look too good as he said millions were coming.

If she goes north, do you have the balls to take your protests there? She isn't going anywhere, fool. Though she may setup her government there, with or w/o a "coup" of various kinds occuring.

I still say that regardless of the crowds, whether large or not, Suthep keeps moving forward.....I'm amazed that there hasn't been a concerted effort to bring the protests to an end.....obviously violence is not wanted....but it's hard to believe that it's the main reason not to try and stop things.
NongKhaiKid
I hope Mr Suthep will denounce the call by one of his leaders to sieze air traffic control. If I heard Channel News Asia correctly the suggestion was Air traffic Control on Wednesday and it's in true Thai style to get publicity by announcing plans in advance, straight out of the Tarit handbook ' How to Organise a Criminal Investigation ". As has been said in this forum Suthep may be about to learn a lesson that crowds take on their own momentum and he doesn't have the control he thinks he has. Promises not to disrupt the airports and other locations were dangerous anyway and if disobeyed just makes him look even more ridiculous.

At least in the eyes of the naive anti-Thaksin farangs who support Suthep and his insanity. Hopefully the real numbers do not mean anything substantial. Suthep's irrational movement will be allianated by the Bangkok people themselves. Yingluck and the reds can just wait peacefully, while the yellow thugs shoot themselves. Popular Post siampolee
irrespective of the numbers which if that which we see on the media is true there are indeed many supporters of the P.R.D.C. on the streets. In any protest movement a leader will emerge , that leader being the vehicle but not the engine powering the movement, so to be realistic is Suthep the power behind it all? In my view no Suthep is not the power behind the public face he projects, Also it is not in essence a political movement but a movement that has grown out of the peoples concern for the rampant levels of corruption, manipulation of the judiciary and the attempted manipulation of the charter so as to benefit one creature, his family and others of that ilk. These are the matters that have brought about this Bangkok shutdown and of course those in power have never met this style, nor level of resistance to their schemes before. The times are a changing, there were comments on the Thai news media this morning by one Thai who drew a parallel to the Arab Spring scenario, somewhat dramatic, however, perhaps a little nearer the truth than we and more so Thaksin and the P.T.P.would care to realise. The Thai people are saying in fact they have said ''enough is enough'' the sooner that the Thaksin cancer is removed from the Thai political body the sooner Thailand will recover and go forward.
Popular Post cdmtdm
i think social media has been used, to give the general public the impression a huge movement is underway against the current govt . today will indicate how many real followers they have , not just fb friends ... what i dont understand is why the democrats have not hit the road with real policies , real solutions and gained voter confidence , to then have at least a chance at winning an election ... that is the democratic way to get change for the better ...instead they take the bat and ball and go home , to now return and try and tear up the pitch .... childish !!!

Popular Post boomerangutang
I would imagine Thaksin lovers / Suthep haters might be glad the protesters aren't setting up barricades downtown - made of petrol-soaked tires and sharpened bamboo spikes. They may also appreciate that the current protesters aren't allying themselves with military troops dressed in disguise, who are eager to shoot rifles and grenades right and left (a.k.a. 'Men in Black'). Is a coup worse than a continuing Shinawatre control nexus? Think about it. Look at the policies the Shinawatres have saddled on the Thai people. There comes a time when policies are so rotten that extreme measures (a coup and/or having caretaking leaders step down) is the less harmful action for Thailand's future. If there is a coup, let's hope it's the benevolent type which schedules elections in a timely manner. I also hope they won't automatically insist the Constitution be re-written, as all other coup makers think they're required to do. The current Constitution is not perfect, but there's no guarantee that a subsequent draft will be any better.

Popular Post appleman
Just called a Thai friend, a retired general, whose house is right on one of the roads used by the "protesters". He said that he went out to talk to them and found that many of the people he saw had been bused in from southern Thailand. They had been given 2,000 baht a piece for their "protesting" efforts. We are planning to get a group of us friends together and go protest tomorrow. What a great party we could have for 2,000 baht each.
