Lite Beer
Train derails in Samut Sakhon A diesel train from Bangkok's Wong Wien Yai station to Samut Sakhon's Maha Chai station derailed before noon today but no passenger was injured. The latest train accident happened at 11.00 a.m. while the 4313 passenger train was running between Bang Namchued and Ban Kam railway stations in Maha Chai district, about 23 kilometers from Wong Wien Yai station.Train officials said the last bogie of the train jumped the tracks while the train was approaching the Kok Kwai waiting area in between the two railway stations. However the other bogies did not veer off the tracks and did not obstruct rail service.Passengers were later transfered to other train to the end destination in Maha Chai.State Railway of Thailand governor Prapat Chongsa-nguan said the accident was caused by land subsidence as the rail line was built on area where locals used it for waste water draining.Besides, the tracks are also old, he said and added that he would inspect the scene of derailment tomorrow.Earlier on November 18 last year, a 4320 diesel train also derailed at the same waiting area for trains but no passenger was injured Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/train-derails-samut-sakhon/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=train-derails-samut-sakhon -- Thai PBS 2014-02-

Cloggie
I look forward to the high speed train connection between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Even if the train travels 'step by step' they still derail.....

RubbaJohnny
Revolutions depend on Hub alignment. I believe Asokes wheel is the local standard as displayed the Indian flag.the current imbalance may be tracked to old buffers . As others have noted minimal carnage at 20mph but just wait until 'locals using it for drainage is under a 300phour super train. Like Nuclear energy they can buy the dgrees the science but you cannot buy safety culture, contingency planning and realizing if you trouser the maintainance budget the vanguard will be derailed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XQybKMXL-k Edited February 16, 2014 by RubbaJohnny
