With just one result this week not expected, Chelsea losing, are there any rethinks on the teams finishing in the top four and their order.

As anticipated European matches are not going to have much effect on fixture congestion though Arsenal still in The FA Cup.

After Liverpool's win against a clueless Man U they have increased the likleyhood of finishing 2nd though the defining home games against Chelsea and

Man City will be critical.

City have to be favourites at the moment, but I still think all teams will drop more points.

Would agree with that, though Aguero's iffy status and the continued problems in front of Hart give me pause. It won't be a cakewalk for anybody.

After those gaumless gobins Tottenham failed to take the points at home from Arsenal. I'll change my statement to 4th for the Gunners.

But Liverpool have no distractions.

I could see Liverpool doing it. 2 massive games at Anfield v City and Chelsea.

Fair play to Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool this season.

If City win all their games they are Champions.

But tbh I think they will drop points somewhere along the line and not necessarily to the top teams.

A test of courage as well as resources.

So, Liverpool right in the mix.

Oh we're in the mix alright, but we still have such a thin squad for a run-in, distractions or not. We just need to hope everyone stays fit and available and we keep doing what we're doing well. You never know but I don't *expect* us to win it.

I hope Liverpool do win it. Frankly, with the resources available to Mourinho and Pelligrini no one has any business even getting close to them and it should have been a two horse race all season.

Obviously that stupid prick Mourinho would be the little horserolleyes.gif

Ditto Arsenal. We can keep dreaming - if we could get 2 points out of 6 at Chelsea and Everton the rest look eminently winnable even with a thin squad provided most of the defence stays fit. [Yes - that means I think we can beat Citeh at home]. Only one non-EPL game to distract us now and arguably the strongest defence in the Prem outside of the 'really big games'.

We have been so poor at the 'really big games' away from home for a few seasons and average to poor since Christmas in the Prem, so I think its more likely 0 or 1 point from the two clincher games.

Predictions for Arsenal's run-in:

Chelsea A 0

Swansea H 3

Man City H 3

Everton A 1

West Ham H 3

Hull A 3

Newcastle H 3

West Brom H 3

Norwich A 1

20 points out of a possible 27.

Right now - I'm betting that we lose the title on the last game of the season by not beating Norwich who thereby narrowly retain, on that last day, their Prem status.

If Norwich are already relegated by then - we nick it totally unexpectedly and then go on to complete the double at Wembley biggrin.pngbiggrin.png

In response to carmine's post I would say this:

If Chelsea win it, it will be by the skin of their teeth and by grinding out results.

If Liverpool win it, it will be through brave courageous football.

Mourhino keeps his job this season and builds for the future.

As he said throughout the season.

Respect.

I don't want to get into an argument carmine, i have some sympathy for what you say.

But with 100mil expenditure at Spurs, ROI looks disappointing.

Chelsea with an Aguero or a Suarez might have been a different kettle of fish?

Eto'o was a temporary stop gap on a free from Anzhi.

Fact is, Mourinho probably knows this... and Chelsea are scoring goals and not letting many in.

Job done... for the moment.

Sorry carmine. I was trying to sound like a high powered businessman.

Return on investment.

BTW. I like Mourhino. He makes me laugh, he has a significant track record of success and is a great man-manager.

It's a bit of a catch 22 for him, because any success he gets at Chelsea can always be dismissed as being down to Abramovich money.

Give Moyes Abramovich money, what would happen?

Give Rodgers Abramovich money, what would happen.

I think Rodgers is exceptionally impressive.

Thats just it. I don't think the powers that be at United will trust Moyes with the money. Would you?

With no CL they will need that 200m budget to lure a top manager and i bet they've already started looking.

No.

Yes.

Always good to banter with you carmine.

I wish Spurs well.

chelsea have a £50m striker. neither aguero or suarez cost anything remotely like that. ;)

not to mention that mourinho was the one who sanctioned the loaning out of lukaku and the sale of sturridge.

Eh? Real Madrid manager sanctioned Chelsea's selling of Sturridge?

Lukaku asked to be loaned out.

Buying a striker for £50m is very, very different to having a £50m striker.

Yep. I know what you mean Stevie.

But Mourinho inherited Torres ( bought by RA/CA) when Mourhino was away in Europe and, like what mjj says, Aguero and Suarez would both fetch 50mil no problem.

thumbsup.gif

BTW Stevie.

You don't need to knock Mourinho for Liverpool to achieve greatness. it is going to happen whatever a relatively new kid on the block in SW6 does.

The Shankly candle clearly burns brightly at Knutsford services.thumbsup.gif

Well trying to predict the outcome is like trying to win the lottery but after yesterday's games then looking at the remaining fixtures

this is what I think will be the end result.

Chelsea 88 points

Liverpool 87 points

Man City 85 points

Arsenal 79 points

Everton 65 points

Spurs 64 points

However it will be close and I think that Liverpool's games against Man City and Chelsea will be the deciding factor.

Maybe goal difference will play it's part.

If Liverpool do manage to win the Premiership it it will have been a magnificent job done by Brendan Rogers with a relatively small squad

compared to Chelsea and Man City.

Another yellow card and automatic suspension for Steven Gerrard could be a deciding factor.

I agree with much of what you say Pormax.

Especially the Anfield games for City and Chelsk.

They will be blinders, and there will be joy and tears.

At the moment I don't know whether it will be facepalm.gif or thumbsup.gif .

S'ok, as already mentioned on another thread, SG's ban will be out the way before the big gameswink.png
