Thailand's location a boon for international criminals

Featured Replies

The main cause of the problems here is Thailand`s; have the money then it`s no questions asked policies.

Foreigners can literally just walk into the country, no vetting and in many cases just come and go as they please. Then there are the Thai banks, most foreigners can open a bank account in Thailand on just a show of a passport. I myself have opened Thai bank accounts, paid in several million bahts, no references required, just a show of my passport and I`m in. The passports are never verified, could be fake or stolen, even the visa stamps can be fake, but according the banks, providing it all looks authentic on the surface, than that`s adequate enough to open bank accounts. Try opening a bank account with a new bank in the West these days, they require everything, references, documents, employment history, credit ratings, last addresses and so on.

For money launderers and money belonging to terrorists and criminals, no problem opening an account or accounts in Thailand. In other words foreign undesirables and criminals are able to come and go and operate here freely. And this is really the crux of the matter.
