Yingluck goes to work despite torn ligament

Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is wheeled into the weekly Cabinet meeting yesterday.

BANGKOK: -- Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was in a wheelchair when she showed up to attend the weekly Cabinet meeting at the Royal Police Cadet Academy in Nakhon Pathom yesterday.

Reports say that she has torn a ligament in her left ankle and the doctor has told her not to put any weight on it. It will reportedly take her at least two months to fully recover. "Even though I have a torn ligament, I will continue doing my work," Yingluck told reporters.

The PM appeared to hurt herself when she slipped while getting out of a mini-van in Chiang Mai on Saturday. This was one day before the lottery numbers were drawn.

It is believed that many lottery buyers had opted for the licence plate numbers of the two vans she was using during her trip to the North last weekend. The numbers were 5404 and 7879, and many lottery buyers allegedly opted for the numbers 404 and 79 in both the state and underground lottery.

On Sunday, the first prize winning number was 531404 and the winning two-digit number was 79.

It was the eighth time that lottery winning numbers were the same as the numbers on Yingluck's licence plates.

Yesterday, members of the anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), led by Issara Somchai, visited the Government Lottery Office in Nonthaburi to lodge a complaint against the government and accuse the officials of fixing the lottery tickets.

She doesn't make her own facebook posts anyway.

She likely agrees the photo shoot of her looks good in the media.....tough lady!

eight times in two years that the winning 6 digits matched the PMs license plate. What are the odds. Beyond astronomical I imagine. I would be suspicious that the 'fix' is in, also.

Getting daily instructions on the phone from Dubai is arduous work.

She is temporarily crippled by incompetence, unable to climb out of a van which is easy to do if you sit down on the edge first and place both feet on the ground before you put your weight on them. This is a metaphor for the nation, also temporarily crippled by incompetence. The fact the van she climbed out of is related to corruption in the lottery, adds another dimension to this metaphor of a person/nation temporarily crippled by corruption and incompetence. It is strangely poetic.

My friend says that Thaksin has a remote-control system built into the chair so he can remotely drive Yingluck directly to the meetings without having to bother with Skype.

Wasn't she walking straight after having fallen?

Is this a sympathy ploy from YL? Something to be used in the near future to not accept orders to accept charges for crimes commited by her and her underlings,

Why would they make such a big deal out of something so simple as a torn ligament? Furthermore, why would they make a big deal of her continuing her duties. What few duties she actually has she does online in facebook. Only when she is campaining for the PTP does she actuallly make a public appearance. What a rediculous article aimed only at trying to make YL be seen in a better light.

Old tactic, Looking to take advantage of the sympathy vote, will be out mountain climbing next week.

Absolutely disgusting play act. I'll bet any amount of money that she is not hurt and doesn't need a wheelchair. Playing to the gallery. Same as her crying stunt, and after a minute when she thought the cameras were off , she started smiling as if she was saying: 'I acted well, didn't I?" Yes, you acted beautifully. PTP are spending fortune on PR. One thing for sure, Yingluck is a very good actress.

.. too late for this year's Oscars .. bad timing

Why would a torn ankle ligament stop her from going to work in an office?

Oh ... I forgot, she doesn't actually go to her office, does she?

Wasn't she walking straight after having fallen?

Yes, she was. And she was standing on it. I tore the ligaments in my ankle and had the same two months recovery period. But within seconds of tearing the ligament, my ankle was swollen and I could not stand and put the slightest pressure on it. She is faking it.

she doesn't know how to use the crtches, they don't come with video on how to use them tongue.png

Tearing up has stopped working so she's taking to the next level by appearing to suffer an injury on duty. Does anyone who's experienced a sports injury think she was actually hurt? I don't.

I dunno about that.

From personal experience, can have a ligament severely strained, or partially torn. Then, if you don't take care of it, a more serious condition might develop.

But (and that's also personal experience) great for sympathy and PR.

I put mine at a right angle about a month ago just before work. I had to hobble to the office and within half an hour it had doubled in size. It was killer pain and I'm a pretty tough old fart. There ain't no way she was walking through a market for a photo shoot in the heels that she was wearing if she tore a ligament in that fall.

I agree with Zydeco and will add.. well nothing.

Injured on the battlefield of democracy. What a trooper!

It's not that there isn't a video, it's a bit more about the fact that she need two crutches and she has to make a decision about which crutch goes under which arm... Truly I pity her.

An excuse to try and justify and more possible screw ups? 'But right now, I have a torn ligament."

Work? She hasn't worked a day in her life, and never know pain, challenge or hard times.
