Any one that pays money to store their valuables with a safety deposit box Company (as opposed to one of the big banks) in this day and age must have rocks in their head

Last time I checked with Bangkok Bank (this was a few years back, though), you had to have 500k account. Most long term visas involve having at least 400k account, and they said no problems to use that. Not sure if same conditions apply today - didn't go for it back then, anyway.

When I last checked several months ago the banks (BKK, K) required one to contribute to a life insurance policy (60k/yr at BKBK and 200K/yr at K)for 6 years which matured after 15 years for a paltry return. One would need to be stashing some serious value for that to be worthwhile.
