UDD's rally on April 5-6 just a "final exercise before the big war"

BANGKOK: -- The mass rally to be staged by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) on the Aksa road in Bangkok’s suburbs this Saturday and Sunday is just a “final exercise before the big war” after Songkran festival, said Jatuporn Promphan on Wednesday.

“Our aim is to send a message to those who want to seize the power from the people that they have no chance of success,” said Jatuporn as he urged red-shirt followers to have trust in their leaders.

He claimed that there were more people this year who were frustrated than those in 2010 because they wanted an election but their wish was shattered by just a handful of people and, worse, the election was declared null and void by the Constitutional Court.

Even if the protest site is close to the residence of protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban, Jatuporn assured that red-shirt followers would not go near the house to avoid possible confrontation.

He also warned anti-government protesters not to interfere with the UDD’s rally.

'the big war', peacefully of course meant in a way only UDD leaders understand 'peace'.

Mind you, k. Jatuporn is doing fine alongside Dr. weng with his 'eradicate the Democrats' and Ms. Thida with her 'time to wipe out reactionairs'.

So they want war, and if somebody red gets killled they will point their finger to all the rest of Thailand since they are so peaceful. They are beyond any believe...

Aren't you and Natawut in court on the 18th to have your bail review???

Oh right.... so this war will be actually because both of you will be locked up again. I see now.

This announcement by Jatuporn is a tactic admission of failure. Suthep - knowing that the UDD hadn't managed to gather more than 100,000 to 120,000 in any single rally since 2010, and even then for only the first two days - has said that if Jatuporn could bring more people together than the PDRC, then the PDRC would gladly step down. What UDD leader wouldn't want that to happen ? But Suthep knows, and Jatuporn knows too - that they can't do it. It was all bluster. Jatuporn's famous bluster - protected by people's really bad memories of anything he says - including apparently himself. Jatuporn's claims of half a million people all came to absolutely nothing. But when did he make this claim ? Yesterday ! Now, it's just wait a few weeks.

Well, the people of Bangkok will be relieved. They know exactly what UDD rallies are like, and their memories of 2010 are vivid. And they would much prefer if they didn't turn up at all.

the silent majority have had enough of being trampled on by the big boys so a warning they wont tolerate being shafted again ?

<script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

the silent majority have had enough of being trampled on by the big boys so a warning they wont tolerate being shafted again ?

Again the questions:

- Who do you mean 'the silent majority'

- Who do you mean by 'big boys so a warning they wont tolerate being shafted again ?'

Please share.

"final exercise before the big war"

This guy is asking for Seh Daeng style instant karma, his mother can't be very proud of him right now.

Was she ever?

No need to get all nervous k. Jatuporn. The government will be removed by democratic means, criminals will be charged and removed from their posts unless you and the rest of your gang is against it, but then what does it makes you? Not the defenders of democracy you claim to be, that's for sure.

sounds too good to be true

How many burmese workers from Samutsakorn will be hired to make a bit of attendance?

What an idiot. 450 billion baht has disappeared which could have changed the lives for many red supporters, but they still can't see that.

the silent majority have had enough of being trampled on by the big boys so a warning they wont tolerate being shafted again ?

450 billions reasons why they were shafted by their own Government.

This guy is dangerous very dangerous, he believes in his own greatness,

but really he is just an &lt;deleted&gt; of the greatest magnitude.

I'm sure the majority of Thais think the same. It's time to silence him and similar ilk for good. For heaven's sake. I've never seen in any country in the world, people calling and cherishing the opportunity to start a civil war without consequences. I'm actually surprised that any westerner is defending their actions. It's not only rhetoric, consider the number of poorly educated people in their audience who actually take their words literally. Burning Bangkok in 2010 is the best example. If they are allowed to continue with their warmongering, the consequences could be grave for all of us who chose Thailand as our home.

well that is not you because you seem to always mention the silent majority.

Boring boring boring

It is easy to see that many Bangkokians dont like the Whistle Yellow Mob. But this doesn't mean that they wearing Red now.

This man makes suthep's constant calls for one more rally look sane. He is completely off his rocker. Blood and violence is all he understands. No wonder he leads PT's stormtroopers.

Not knowing Jatuporn personally, when I saw the word, Bíg, I thought of his physical statue, his mouth and his ego. I have watched and listened to some of his triades on the "'red channel'", thai news channels, newspaper interviews, and even his mothers reported take on him. Nowhere have I found even a hint of his having or displaying a single redeeming social, moral, nor family quality This in its self may put him in the same company of a relative small group of human being, in the history of civilation of the world

I shouldn't worry about it... he has around 2 weeks of freedom left before his bail is revoked.

I doubt this guy will taste freedom for many years to come, if ever!

I can expect to hear of his demise in prison under dubious circumstances and his mate Nattawut also.

There is no way this tosser can throw around all these threats of war against the courts and military and walk free from his bail inquiry.

If he does, then I will just totally give up on Thailand, jump on a plane and sit back with lots of beer and popcorn and watch the slaughter as it unfolds and the ensuing coup. Before returning to laugh at the smoking ruins of the UDD and red shirt movement.

WAR IS WAR!!!!!...... If that is what they want, but they will come second.

Dear arrogant Bangkok People,

lets imagine the UDD comes to Bangkok and no violence happends. I think then you are very unhappy. Oh my god, the redshirts are so primitive and you Bangkok people are so cultivated and intelligent.

I can understand very well, why some people dont want to be governed from Bangkok.

This is the reason I dont want to live in a big city. I dont want to become like you.

Best wishes

Tom

Locked them up and throw away the key! Red shirt movement should be outlawed as a threat to national security.

Yes, both sides are armed, but as one poster observed, one side is defending itself and the other is terrorizing with grenades and attacks.

Yes, both sides are armed, but as one poster observed, one side is defending itself and the other is terrorizing with grenades and attacks..... with help from the government and police.

The red shirts are gearing up to be no less than the Taliban. That will be their war, they won't fight on the open battlefield.

Wave goodbye to your tourism industry forever Thailand. It won't come back once you allow the red shirts to build.

When is the last time anyone on here thought about a nice relaxing 2 weeks in Afghanistan?

Ok so they wont be getting the 500,000 they had stated so now they will call this the final exercise. I guess when they get more money to pay for more people to come then comes the big war

Dear Arrogant Tom,

I have lived in a small northern Thai village for 25 years. I fully support the idea of decentralisation and the promotion of regional values. But Thaksin and his clan are murderous thieves, while Natthawut and Jatuporn are simply thugs, totally unrepresentative of the good people of the north - for heaven's sake, the latter two are southern gunmen with less northern links than I have.

So I don't want to become like you - and nor do any of my Khon Mueang compatriots.

Suthep has the power of old cultural forces (and money) behind him. He can dress his words up in prettier language like "reform" ..hes part of the problem tho because his power relies on the very systems that created the status quo. The red shirts do not have the generational power and must resort to their numbers and a constant underlying, threatening layer of violence, actualized by events in 2010.

The reds really do seem to have the numbers, however, which is an empowerment in democratic nations. It determines who governs.

I agree, the threat of violence coming from the reds is damaging thailand, but bangkokians and the old lords need to understand: if u want democracy, respect the vote

I am amazed at the overwhelming anti democratic posts here.

You are all advocating Thailand rejects the voters choice of government. (yet again)

Why?

It has zero relevance to you, as a foreigner, yet you think your views mean something.

They are irrelevant so calm down and stop thinking you know what you are talking about.
