webfact Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Kim re-elected as North Korean leaderSEOUL: -- Kim Jong-Un was Wednesday "re-elected" as North Korea's leader, state media said, as parliament opened a session expected to endorse personnel changes after the shock execution of his once-powerful uncle.Kim was reaffirmed as First Chairman of the powerful National Defence Commission (NDC) by the new parliament, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said. The rubber-stamp assembly -- the first under the leadership of Kim who took over from his father in December 2011 - gathered after North Koreans last month cast ballots in pre-determined elections where all candidates were unopposed. Upon his re-election, "all the deputies and participants in the session broke into stormy cheers of 'hurrah!', extending the highest glory and warmest congratulations to him," KCNA said. The result was an "expression of the absolute support and trust of all service personnel and people in him", it said. Kim also serves as first secretary of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, but his re-election as head of the top military body confers upon him ultimate power in the heavily militarised state. Popular Post ThaidDown Posted April 9, 2014 Popular Post Posted April 9, 2014 Kim Jong-Un was Wednesday "re-elected" as North Korea's leader, I'm sure he spent the previous night tossing and turning wondering if he would get enough votes to retain his positions. 4

GentlemanJim Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Time for Dennis Rodman to go over to congratulate him on a fantastic victory.
Popular Post Sydebolle Posted April 9, 2014 Popular Post Posted April 9, 2014 This comes as a surprise after his popularity plummeted to an all-time-low of 162% of eligible votes 3
Basil B Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I presume anyone not voting for him would be sent to the dog house
Mudcrab Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Just read that one of his Uncles(remember the dog food?) cronies has just been executed - by flame thrower. Very creative is young Kimbo.
Frank James Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSaYpgjy-94&feature=player_detailpage Some day, and we pray it won't be long, this truly evil empire will come undone, and the people set free. 2
transam Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 At least with this outcome, many folk will still have their heads attached to their bodies...............
rickirs Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Election night was a tense one for Kim. All night long he had to constantly go over lists of assinations for any possible opposition and renegade voters. But all ended well for him and everyone is now able to sleep in deathly peace.
ggt Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 This guy is a throw-back to the Middle Ages...Lords and surfs...Haves and have-nots...he is the most dangerous man on earth... 1
timmuhonen Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 i guess the style has been:vote me or you will dissappear...
outsider Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Oh come on... it wasn't like this pariah dog had any competition.
alphaflight Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I wonder what it feels like, to have to vote at gunpoint (so to speak)? Probably the same way it feels, when you're expecting a drive by, or a grenade to be lobbed at the polling station.............
boomerangutang Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 It would be interesting to see a ballot. Maybe there's one for sale on E-bay. Were there any other names? ....or 'none of the above' ...ok, I jest. This guy is a throw-back to the Middle Ages...Lords and surfs...Haves and have-nots...he is the most dangerous man on earth... In some ways its worse than the worst of the Middle Ages, unless you factor in Vlad the Impaler. At least in the Middle Ages, if there was enough resentment, someone could rouse up a few hundred angry peasants with pitchforks, and storm the Master's residence. In N.Korea, any hint of non-adulation for Fat Boy is met with immediate and harsh retribution.
boomerangutang Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 It's a country replete with mandated adulation. Not one openly genuine or free-thinking person exists there. How sick is that?
Frank James Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 In an age of universally available information (not all of it reliable or trustworthy to be sure) it will be impossible to keep the lid on in DPRK. I can foresee a rebellion in the young officer ranks of the armed forces. Of course, as in the case of Libya and Egypt this could lead to another dictatorship, but how could it be worse than what is there now? Dislodging seven decades of personality cult and paranoia will be very difficult. If you lived your whole life believing the Kim Crime Family were gods incarnate, and then it is all revealed to be a Big Lie, that will be hard for the people to deal with. The reunification of Korea might also lead to big problems in super-modern, prosperous ROK, when suddenly there is a vast cheap labor pool eager and willing to compete for jobs. Might take years to sort out. China and Japan will not welcome a re-unified, strong economic competitor. All this aside, Little Kim's days are numbered.
bigbamboo Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 At last I get one over my bookmaker! I wonder what's his odds were again?
