I have been an AIS (BB Plan) subscriber for nigh on 8 years. I recent discovered something strange - my balance was decreasing by about 12B per day. I only noticed this because I just just phanbhat onto my mobile, with a balance of 53 Baht. Two days later. the balance was 979.53. Hmmm

Seemed that I (unknown to me) signed up for a scam service.

Warning - check your balances!.

The telephone number of record is 4887800 the company is http://aplaymusic.com. AIS says there is nothing they can do about this (I wonder....)

HOWEVER - they did refund the funds taken for the last 30 days (says that is all they can do). Seems the net balance taken was over 273B.

Not the end of the world, but... times 100 or 10,0000 subscribers???

I have asked AIS management to get back to me. High hopes....

The one time I ended up with some unknown company billing me Baht 10 from time to time AIS was very helpful is cancelling the charges for me.

Details of discussions to date: Two calls with AIS provided the following information:

- The junk sms messages I had been receiving for almost three months and tried to get AIS to stop since March 3rd; turned out NOT to be junk sms's but rather charged messages - I had been, unbeknownst to me, charged 6B 42Satang for each of these junk mailings.

AIS nicely explained that they have no control over a company claiming to have my authority to charge me for an sms program or any other charges that can be made directly to a mobile telephone account. It is up to each account holder to verify charges.

AIS stated they are aware of the scam company in question (aplaymusic.com) and immediately cancel all claims/accounts made by this company upon dispute by a customer. They refused to state how many complaints they get; how much money they make from unsuspecting customers. When questioned, they stated that under law, they could not refuse aplaymusic.com access to their network, but that they were aware that this problem existed.

In plain words, folks, check your accounts regularly and let your service provider know if anything untoward is happening. In my case, AIS stated I had been billed a total of 707B 56Satang during my fraudulent "subscription" of which they have no record except aplaymusic.com's word that they had a right to take money from my mobile account. I was refunded 26B by AIS, their charges/fees in this matter. I would have to go to court to get the rest from aplaymusic.com.

A couple of years ago I noticed that I was being charged for 'news' txt messages which I was getting about six times a day. Worked out at about 200Baht a month. Thaivisa members explained I had to de-register the subscription even though I had never actually 'registered'. Worked though, no more rip off messages.

had the same in Australia. With Vodafone and noticed my balance went down substantially. Phoned them, Indian call centre and got refunded but about a dollar short. Magnify by maybe a millionv subscribers! Big money made. Government where are you?
