CHIANG RAI, June 30 - Three mild earthquakes shook Thailand’s northernmost province of Chiang Rai before dawn Sunday but no casualties were reported, according to the Meteorological Department’s Seismological Bureau.

The Bureau said the three smaller quakes occurred after the 6.3 magnitude earhquake on May 5, considered one of the strongest to have ever hit the kingdom.

According to the Bureau, Sunday’s first quake measured 1.6 on the Richter occurred int Chiang Rai’s Phan district at 1.40am local time and the second, having a 2.8 magnitude, took place at 2.03am and had its epicenter in Mae Suai district.

The third quake occurred at 5.20am again in Phan district, at 2.3 on the Richter scale, with its centre five kilometres under the earth, it said.

Experts warned that although the massive quake in the province took place almost two months ago, a series of aftershocks began late last week along faults in nearby areas.

They warned that cracks in Mae Chan district could cause a quake measuring as much as 6 magnitude in future.

Meanwhile, relief workers in Chiang Rai distributed money to May 5 quake victims to boost their morale and to enable them to repair their damaged homes.

However, many villagers in Phan district said they had received only mnimal financial assistance from the government, not enough to repair their homes.

Many homes in the village have been left unrepaired to date. (MCOT online news)

Yes we have consistently been getting two or three a day for the last couple of weeks (by the web site, you can't feel the majority of them). I don't understand how this is news. Slow day I guess.

Old picture. VERY old.

Article itself really poor. As someone mentioned earlier, it's a filler. Crap. Filler.

That picture doesn't look like the result of a small 'quake!
