Popular Post tomyummer Posted September 20, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2014 It was already planned before the 'Coup de Thai' that he would take the PM post at least until new elections were held. Hopefully the elections are not too soon. 4
Popular Post Thai at Heart Posted September 20, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2014 Hahaha. They had a poll to find this out Can they have an election? 5
pookiki Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Let me think, what's the biggest problem?
Snig27 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script> Hahaha. They had a poll to find this outCan they have an election? No, that might prove embarrassing. Can't be far off until we get another one of these happy convenient polls that gives Dear Leader 99% approval rating. Maybe in six or seven years when they are still working on "reform". 2
Popular Post SinCityGr8One Posted September 20, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2014 So far, so good General Prayuth, Sir. You had to do what you had to do to pull The Kingdom back from the Abyss. Out side of some gaffes, I think he is the right man at the right time for Thailand. Although I am a Foreigner that works and resides here (American with Work Permit and Tabien Baan) I am still a guest here as are all non-Thai nationals. However, what affects the Kingdom's internal affairs has a direct effect on my business affairs externally. I am glad General and now Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha is steering the ship of state as it has brought stability back to The Kingdom in the eyes of the Global Community. IMHO. 5
Orac Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 What is most telling is that 66.4% wanted the pm to stay until the job was done and 33.6% for just a year which means nobody wants him to step down now and hold a proper election which seems a bit of a stretch unless they were not allowed this as a choice???
ramrod711 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Pheu Thai receives 23.5% support, down 5.8% from previous poll. I wonder what the level of support will be when members of the black shirts are indisputably tied to Thaksin. The document evidence is piling up, can't wait for PTP to join the ranks of the past Thaksin parties....banned. 2

Thaksins' political parties have maintained a support level of between 52% - 60% of the electorate for nearly a decade and a half. The fact that democracy has at the very least been "suspended" in the Kingdom is all the proof one needs that Thaksin still commands support from a majority of Thais. If the figures quoted in the article were even remotely true (or realistic) then Thailand would be off to the polls to win international legitimacy for the junta. Only the naive buy the crap spewed out by these establishment backed polls - everyone knows who will win any "one man, one vote" election in Thailand. 6
Eric Loh Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 You mean to say that the 7 months shutdown and the coup were really not necessary to ensure that the Dem Party win in an election? Someone overshot the target. 2

Doc46 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I would say it will take more than a year,,,maybe 5 years to get rid of all the corruption and police and traffic organisation to a decent level (just my opinion),,,
englishoak Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Same old drivel regurgitated. Just easing the people into the idea... totally expected 2
Popular Post mikemac Posted September 20, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2014 I don't take much notice of polls, or rigged elections which are won, time after time, by the party willing to pay the most for votes. Democratic my ass. Some TV posters make me laugh. The criminal organization they have so lovingly supported all this time has crashed and burned and all they can do is make nasty, spiteful comments as a way of getting back at the anti-Shin posters. Guess what guys, every one of your acid comments is music to our ears and only serves to remind us that the PTP are no longer raping ruling the country. What must really hurt is the fact that Thaksin, Yingluck and co probably look down their hi-so noses at you as you are just lowly farangs and are no use to them. 8
Popular Post Brian Corrigan Posted September 20, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2014 Nothing new here. The democrats have always captured the Bangkok vote. There is no possibility of the junta allowing political parties that don't fit in with its idea of "good"people. Just look at Hong Kong if you want to see how the next election will pan out. 3
fab4 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) It's a good job they've got those prayuth recently approved A/V micophone set ups and multiple monitors because how could they possibly see him when he's that far away? tbthailand Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 do we need any more hints that the General is here to stay for a while? elections in 2015? yeah, right. 2
Popular Post dBrown Posted September 20, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2014 do we need any more hints that the General is here to stay for a while? elections in 2015? yeah, right. I think the general was correct when he said there will be elections in 2558, but he forgot to add that it he meant the Western solar calendar. 3

rubl Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Hahaha. They had a poll to find this out Can they have an election? With Martial Law still in place and politicians of any kind prohibited from activites, I think we can humour you and arrange an election. Mind you, if it's just for the fun of it, would you mind footing the bill? Only about 3 billion Baht or so.
rubl Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 It's reassuring to know that every problem is going to be resolved in such a short timeframe. I didn't read that. I though it was more a realisation that solving every problem might take a wee bit more than a single year. Especially as people keep asking the NCPO / government "please look into this", "please solve this", "please help with this".

Ah well, in 2011 Pheu Thai received 44.38% of votes cast (or 33.57% of registered electorate). BTW "Thaksin's political parties" ?
rubl Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 You mean to say that the 7 months shutdown and the coup were really not necessary to ensure that the Dem Party win in an election? Someone overshot the target. In a democracy anyone winning a seat in parliament in an election wins. Anyway, rumour has it that the coup was staged since even having the political parties and protest groups around the table with Gen. Prayuth looking over their shoulder, they could only agree on the 'fact' that the others were to be blamed.

Only the naive buy the crap spewed out by these establishment backed polls - everyone knows who will win any "one man, one vote" election in Thailand. In 2007, Thaksin's party, the People's Power Party, received 36.63% of the "constituency" votes, The Dem Party 30.30%; the PPP got 39.6% of the "proportional" votes and the Dems, 39.63%. In 2011, Puea Thai did much better, 48.4 to 35.1 (and /why/ is a very interesting question, given that many "red" farmers grudginly admitted that Abhisit did better by them than Thaksin had). So, I'm not sure where your 52-60% comes from. As to polls--I don't believe they mean anything at all. Edited September 20, 2014 by sae57 3

Actually I think the Bosch high-end multi-media conference system was taken out a few days ago. This must be the old stuff from before, the stuff which allows concerned citizens to skype-in into meetings. As for working together for many years, well, there are some non-military in the cabinet. Maybe they had a get-to-know-each-other gathering in the woods, complete with some games and wearing the same greens to help team building? 2
heybruce Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Let me think, what's the biggest problem? No problem at all. Every poll since martial law and censorship were imposed have consistently shown high levels of support for the junta. And you can't question the credibility of Bangkok Poll, because you probably don't have any idea who or what the heck Bangkok Poll is. I certainly don't, does anyone know anything about them? 1
