Dwayne House is attended to by rescue workers.

PHUKET: An Australian tourist was stabbed with a broken bottle yesterday afternoon (September 26) during a drunken argument with three Thai teenagers in Patong.

Arriving with rescue workers at the scene in front of the Baan Thai Beach Resort on Thaweewong Rd at 2pm, police found Dwayne David House, 23, lying on his back on the road with a stab wound below the left side of his rib.

A friend, also Australian, called on officers to arrest three Thai boys standing nearby, which they did.

After questioning the two Australians, police arrested one of the Thais, a 15-year-old, who was identified as having done the damage, and released the other two.

Mr House was taken to Patong Hospital for treatment.

Only Three on one, looks Thai standards are slipping. However they did manage to find the obligatory weapon. Well done the under staffed Thai team. thumbsup.gifclap2.gif

That happened in Pattaya awhile back and the Thai got a 500 baht fine and released back on the street. Phuket is a higher class place from what I hear now so this guy will have to pay 700 baht ....

You must wonder how these things do start.obvious some side does bait the other first and from what i have seen and heard, i got a pretty good idea which side starts it up

Two sides to every one of these, I'd bet those Aussie kids had a few drinks under their belts.

3 sides. The Thai side, the Aussie side, and the truth.

5 sides, actually.

The Thai side, the Australian side, the police side, the media side, and then the truth. biggrin.png

The days of 1 on 1 and fighting using fists are long gone here.

Drunken yobs brawling in the street

Don't you just love it.

I don't care where you come from

If you cant handle booze

KEEP AWAY FROM IT facepalm.gif

Has Thailand always been this bad, or is it Me taking more notice of it now, or is it more the case of it being much more documented these days ?

They may have all been drunk but you don't read of farang stabbing others with broken beer bottles because that is an act intended to kill.

But it is reported that Thais use such weapons with some frequency. Broken bottles, iron bars.

Yes it has always been pretty bad previously unreported. Now we have foreign press floating around looking for stories, On one side of the coin the police are paying more attention to crimes against tourist as they now accept tourism is a major boast to their economy, but on the flip side more kids on meth' negates that.

And another one bites the dust. Foreigner. Thai tourism industry job.

Lesson no. 1 !!!! Not argue with a Thai, keep smiling and walk off. Can't win overhere.

actually 6 sides, u forgot TV forum side

The shootings, stabbings, beatings, bouldering with bats, bricks, rapes, balcony jumpers (pushers) hit and run by cars, and now broken bottles, keeps getting worse and worse, in the "Land of Smiles". Most of these crimes are alcohol related for sure, lets say 98.5 % of them.

If I didn't know better, Id swear I was back in the good old USA

some of your comments are unbelievable......NONE of you have any idea what happened but you've all blamed something or someone. He is a tourist, he doesn't know that you walk away from a Thai confrontation, it may not have involved alcohol........wasn't a farang bar owner recently bashed and had his throat cut with a broken beer bottle by a few Thai teens over a dispute because the Thai's were sitting on the farangs scooter, none of you have any idea what has happened with this Aussie kid. What we do know is that too many foreigners are being viciously assaulted and/or killed in Thailand and something needs to seriously change eg; Thai attitudes to tourists and Foreigners.

The article starts with: PHUKET: An Australian tourist was stabbed with a broken bottle yesterday afternoon (September 26) during a drunken argument with three Thai teenagers in Patong.

So why do you write that it may not have involved alcohol?? Read, understand, then reply smile.png

Actually one of the Thai kids got stabbed with a bottle too. Wonder who did that.

Just my 2 cents

@ rainman333

I did think of that, but classified TV as "media." However, I never considered "social media" so yes, you are right, 6 sides. smile.png

"Most of these crimes are alcohol related for sure: - I think you will find a lot of crimes on Phuket are drug related these days, "ice" being the particular drug of addiction at the moment.

Has Thailand always been this bad, or is it Me taking more notice of it now, or is it more the case of it being much more documented these days ?

I think there are two main factors.

1. More drunken <deleted> roaming the streets.

2. More reporting of the incidents.

Walking about with no shirts on ...mmmm quality tourists

They have got to be the 2 skinniest Aussies I have ever seen

Phuket is the new Bali for bogans

Must of been some vocational students preparing for the next semester if they have the good grades to go back to school.

Next week a witness will come forward and say "It was a foreigner wot dun it"

Next week a witness will come forward and say "It was a foreigner wot dun it"

Or, maybe, the news will be, this Australian guy was working as an illegal tour guide, and these Thai teenagers didn't like the competition, which makes their actions perfectly fine. :)
