IMHO, they are safer with other inmates around, though the danger of a planted assassin cannot be ruled out. In a cell by themselves, it is more probable that they will be found hung and there will be problems with the CCTV tape.

I would think it much easier to explain the actions of a "rogue" inmate killing them in the general prison population than to explain how they hanged themselves under 24-hour guard in isolation.

Yes.... murdered by two other 'migrant workers' who were then shot dead by the guards.

Why do I have a very disturbed feeling in my gut here?

Paranoia ,I get that feeling after too much wackbacky.

Considering I have not smoked that stuff for over 20 years.... its just a random username... simple as that.

Paranoia?... I am not the one sitting in prison, why should I be paranoid??

But I get your drift.

I am simply feeling uneasy for the fate of these two who I seriously believe are innocent players in this whole mess up.

Oh man. Not even sure what to say. Sad thing is, they will get away with it and it will be swept under the rug like every other police crime / murder that has happened here over the years.

@ wackybacky ...sorry just a play on your 'random name'.

I feel the two burmese guys have been stitched up too ,the whole episode stinks .

I think the same old armchair detectives posting on here got under my skin for a minute.

apologies for picking out you.

One thing many people is missing, when they talk about the DNA - who monitored, what DNA samples was taken from where, when, labeled, what?

There is no way we will ever get the real truth here....and we all know it....sadly.

I have been saying this for days and getting cremated by TVF members for saying it.

All DNA evidence collected from the crime scene must be assumed contaminated.

I agree with you 100%.

"I have asked the other inmates to monitor the two burmese". What a laughable and ridiculous statement. cheesy.gif

TIT so it makes sense to him and others like him.

Oh Yes, a trial is the last thing that's needed.

No worries mate. You aint the first and you won't be the last.

I made an error of judgement when I chose the name, and that is on my part.

Regarding the other members' comments on contaminated DNA samples. I also agree, but I bet they were deliberately contaminated, and who even knows who's DNA is being sent to labs under what host names? Everything can be rigged... DNA is only as good as the credibility of the sample handed over in the first place.

The only chance of getting true DNA samples is for the Burmese lawyers to hand over samples from the two suspects to the British police who of course have Hannah's body... But even then again her body was in the care of Thai police and who knows what has occurred while they have had access to it.

They may not have left anything for the British police, but I seem to remember reading that the British police actually do have DNA samples from her.

It pains me the think my government seem to have no desire to work with the Burmese on this issue. If I were a direct family member or friend of either of the victims, I would would be kicking up a massive stink about this and forcing their hand.

Three Myanmar witnesses in Koh Tao murder of two British tourists will be brought before the court probably next week to testify in advance before the start of the trial.

Pol Maj-Gen Apichart Boonsriroj, commander of Surat Thani provincial police, said today (Thursday) that the three Myanmar migrant workers were under the care of the police and the public prosecutor had been asked to seek the court’s permission to bring the three witnesses to testify in advance.

Testify in advance ?? thats a new one on me rolleyes.gif

Anyone get the impression they are trying to rush this though and get something on record before a nasty incident might happen ........i hope not.

Presumably one of these "witnesses under the (tender) care of the police" would be the one referred to in the BKK post this morning who has told lawyers he saw nothing, read the rest yourself.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s most-respected forensics specialist cast doubts on the police investigation, saying investigators erred when they neglected to consult a forensic pathologist. Khunying Porntip Rojanasunan,director-general of the Central Institute of Forensic Science, told the Manager news agency that police did not understand that the investigation required a medical examiner.

"The weak point [in the investigation] is that police did not understand the murders of Hannah Witheridge and David Miller required a forensic pathologist, so the officers who collected evidence did not call one in from Surat Thani Hospital," she said. "A case with two murdered people certainly needs a forensic physician."

You could stick a suit and tie on a soi dog and he will walk into court and destroy this 'evidence' that the police case is based on.

Not even a Thai court can convict these two on this flimsy, hole riddled prosecution.

These two pretty much have to disappear before any trial. If it can even get to court in the first place which is looking increasingly fragile.

When the public prosecutor can't accept 'incomplete' police reports, what he is saying is that hardly any of the evidence has substantial merit. Send it back with evidence 'backed up with facts'.

We all know all the evidence is shaky at best. There is not a single element in their evidence that can stand on its own two feet.

So even in the absence of any court case yet..... how can the police put them in court for a pre-trial hearing? There is NO TRIAL.

Wouldn't be surprised if the boys yell loudly, we are guilty and sign another confession in front of their lawyers. So that they might have their suicidal tendencies removed.

And not need to be carefully watched over by the other inmates.

Farther to that.

The case that was sent to the prosecutor was sent back to the police as incomplete and as far as I know has not yet been resubmitted to the prosecutor.

If it has not then how are they planning to get witnesses heard without a case even being presented to a court by a prosecutor ?

They must really think the rest of the World is blessed with an IQ in the low double digits.

MJP, you are right: they must think we are as intellectually challenged as they are. This is an appalling statement by the prison chief, on so many fronts. It raises real suspicions that now the case against the Burmese patsies has all but collapsed (even the public prosecutor is underwhelmed by the 'evidence' against them), there is nothing left but to arrange a convenient 'passing' of these two into other regions ... Then the case is (from the authorities' point of view) nicely closed. Guilt has ravaged the consciences of the evil Burmese perpetrators of murder (never mind that there is not one single piece of hard evidence to indict them for murder) and they have disposed of themselves - or other inmates, outraged by their 'crime', have dispatched them in a fit of moral outrage. The utter idiocy and pathetic-ness of the officials' statements throughout this shocking case have been beyond belief. As far as I can see, not one right and moral move has been made since this whole travesty of justice was launched. It is a crime of gargantuan proportions, crying out to the heavens for real justice. Sad beyond all measure. Appalling and pathetic. Words now fail me.

Suspects' "suicide" would be convenient for the RTP wouldn't it.

Let's .see what today brings???

Today ?

How about a young lad who died on KT new years day that seems to be full of it.

Parents are convinced he was murdered and dont buy the Dave and Hannah killed by these two lads either.

http://1clicknews.com/thailand-beach-death-parents-convinced-son-murdered-and-his-killing-covered-up-to-protect-tourism/

I'm inclined to think we may have a serial killer or more than one on KT the more incidents come out

I also find it quite humerous that the prison chief has already found them guilty.

"I have instructed other inmates to monitor the two Burmese men. I am afraid they may commit suicide, because they show signs of stress," said Chanin Liangsuwan, chief of Koh Samui District Prison. "They may be feeling guilty for the crime they have done."

I mean..... since when was the court case?... did I miss it or something??.. Maybe I was having a cup of tea at the time. I could have sworn the case against them had almost fallen apart last time I looked.

He should have said they are feeling alot of stress, since they, and the entire world knows they are innocent, and have been recklessly framed for a crime they did not commit. That would cause stress! I doubt there is a solitary cell at samui prison. It is a small facility. It is one large room with about 60 guys sleeping side by side on the floor. If you move your shoulder you are touching the guy next to you, according to a guy I know who had the good fortune of being their guest some time ago.

Sean Hayes McAnna says at 0:01:

To everyone commenting. I never said I knew the killers. I said that if I died that night it was the guy from in touch who "did it". anybody with half a brain knows it would always be blamed on Burmese. I'm gutted for everyone involved, but there's really nothing I can do. I'm sorry the newspapers lied to you. Believe me, they lied about a lot of things. They just like a story.

The report in the other newspaper also points out that the police were present throughout the interview and presumably had an interpreter so would know the ' witness ' said he saw nothing.

So back to police custody for ' remedial coaching ' ?

"I have instructed other inmates to monitor the two Burmese men. I am afraid they may commit suicide,

According to Chanin, the two suspects are being held in a general holding cell with other inmates,

Unbelievable!

How many murder victims are going to be tied to this case? I guess a better question, how many murderers are the police going to manufacture in this case?

Nominated for idiot statement of the century.

I wonder what the British tabloids are going to make of this? No doubt it will alter the plans of many tourists when they think of their holidays for the next year. I just hope the lawyers got DNA samples during their meeting earlier this week!

Now wouldn't it be incredibly convenient and it would be played up as an obvious sign of guilt ?

Do you think that they plan that far ahead? Think your giving them a little more credit then they deserve
