His friends then returned to their guesthouse, leaving the man to drink alone. It is believe he committed suicide at around 1pm.Police and physicians carried out an autopsy and believe the cause of death was asphyxiation, the case is being treated as a suicide and not as a homicide. Popular Post Costas2008 Posted January 5, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 5, 2015 I wonder, who wrote the suicide note? RIP Dimitri. 11
Popular Post BigBadGeordie Posted January 5, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 5, 2015 If the RTP say it was suicide, who are we to disagree or question their findings. It's not like they have ever gotten it wrong before is it? 21

Popular Post stephen terry Posted January 5, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 5, 2015 I trust his friends can confirm he appeared suicidal? After over 12 hours of drinking he managed to write a suicide note, then tie his hands behind his back and hang himself? Well, he certainly lived up to what he wrote. It was very difficult. I dunno - Police and physicians carried out an autopsy and believe the cause of death was asphyxiation. Good grief, surely they can be more concise than this? Typical news report. Oh well, wait until the next one... 16
dcutman Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Police and physicians carried out an autopsy and believe the cause of death was asphyxiation, the case is being treated as a suicide and not as a homicide. The man’s body has been taken to Koh Tao temple. Why would they return the mans body to KT? I would assume they did not perform the autopsy on the island. 2
Popular Post stephen terry Posted January 5, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 5, 2015 How does one tie string around their hands behind their back? You tie your hands round your front and then step through them - after 12 hours of drinking it's simple. 9
Popular Post Jungle Jim Posted January 5, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 5, 2015 In Merchant Marine school they teach to tie all knots behind your back. I just tied both arms behind my back moments ago. Not that hard. How does one tie string around their hands behind their back? 5

I know it would be quite a trick for me to do even sober. I am not that flexible but i would manage if i was determined. Though this would not be my way to kill myself. Carbon mono oxide would be my way to go. 1

Probably because the local proctologist did the autopsy, and Pancake Man catered the affair. 6

You tie your hands round your front and then step through them - after 12 hours of drinking it's simple. Lol, really. I would love to see someone tie their hands together WITHOUT any drinks. Everyone thinks it's easy so someone please do a reenactment and make a video to show how simple it is and post it on here. If you can do it, please have a few beer and try it again. If you can do it still, have a few more beer and try it again. Then we can compare the knots to the one around this guy's hands. Keep in mind he was drinking for 12 hours. Until then I call bullshit 11
Popular Post phetmike Posted January 5, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 5, 2015 Yes, obviously suicide as the Burmese men were in jail at the time. 9

Popular Post robblok Posted January 5, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 5, 2015 The whole story stinks ... Why would he tie his hands together and then hang himself ? I know i would do it that way if I had to hang myself. That way your sure you are not going to change your mind at the last moment. Survival instinct might kick in and you would try to save yourself. If you do decide to kill yourself then of course you make sure it works. 3
Popular Post HeijoshinCool Posted January 5, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 5, 2015 Autopsy on Koh Tao? Reached a cause of death without tox screen results? They always announce a conclusion to a case hours after the investigation begins, often at the scene. Maybe his drinks were spiked … that would eliminate any signs of struggle. High blood alcohol levels, after drinking all night, would make it unlikely he tied his hands behind his back, or climbed up on that rail. Oh, I forgot. Thailand's forensic technology is some of the best in the world. Whereas it takes the USA weeks to get back full tox screen results, Koh Tao can do it in 24 hours. That's as fast as they get back DNA results. 10
siampolee Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 An interesting link and if one views the ''discussion passages take a slow read of the section 4-6 concerning how it is possible to actually hang someone if they are rendered incapable through drink or drugs, there were it seems some puncture wound marks on the deceased. Yet again we have reason for doubt the rapid decision of a suicide verdict, the return of the body to Koh Tao also seems a trifle odd as well as hasty, no effort to locate next of kin by the police contacting the French Embassy one asks? Cremation of course leaves no clues does it? Being able to kill another adult by homicidal hanging requires force and intervention. However, if a person is in a confused state because of mental illness, under the effect of medication or alcohol, or if the victim is a child, then it is possible to ascribe suicidal appearances to a homicidal hanging case. In adult victims, more than 1 perpetrator could perform a homicidal hanging but this would most likely result in a violent strugggle. Thus, in such circumstances a medical examiner would expect to find severe traumatic lesions on the victim’s body. 2

wangsuda Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 So, after a heavy night ( and a good part of the day) drinking, a person writes a suicide note using complete sentences, stands on a ledge, slips his head into a noose, ties his hands tightly together, and then kills himself. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. My B.S. meter just exploded. Witnesses said that the man, who is believed to be named Dimitri, was drinking at a bar on New Year’s eve until around 5am, he then moved on to the Experience Party where he stayed until 11am. 2
