Former Senate-House speakers denied charges during impeachment trial

BANGKOK, 15 January 2015 (NNT) – Both speakers of the Senate and the House of Representatives have fielded all questions against them in the impeachment hearings at the National Legislative Assembly.

Before the legislature began the hearings of former Senate Speaker Nikom Wairatpanich and former House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont on Thursday, NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai confirmed that the vote-casting for the impeachment motion against both men and former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will take place on January 23.

In his responses to the NLA, Mr. Nikom denied he has done anything wrong when chairing the Parliamentary session deliberating the amendment of the Constitution. He also turned down claims that his involvement in the charter amendment was intended to help him secure another term in office.

Likewise, Mr. Somsak refuted all claims that the anti-graft agency has included in the impeachment recommendation against him, including the allegation of the falsification of the draft charter amendment.

So this guy is just saying (no, I am innocent)? What is he using to support his innocence?

This being a hearing there should have been supporting evidence to prove his claims of non-complicity.

Cant really say that mate for you don't know what the questions were nor what the answers were.

For all we know at this point they may have produced evidence to back up their answers.

But anyway that's for the NLA to decide.

....the premise is that there is enough evidence to come to this point...

....a point-blank denial is what that government used time and again in the face of mountains of evidence....and the facts always proved them wrong

...they are lucky to even have this formality take place....

...to think that this 'denial charade' will be enough to save them again....at this 11th hour......

....is either delusional......or absolutely .........vile.......

....hopefully for Thailand.......this cancer will be eradicated once and for all....

Impeachment cases to be closed on Jan 23

BANGKOK, 17 January 2015 (NNT) – The president of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has said 3 impeachment cases currently under the NLA’s deliberation will be rested by January 23rd.

NLA President Phonphet Wichitchonlachai reassured the public of the NLA’s impartiality in the impeachment cases against former Premier Yingluck Shinawatra, former Senate speaker Nikom Wairatpanij, and former House speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont, saying that the legislature would strictly adhere to the rule of law, and that justice will be given to all stakeholders involved in these cases.

On this occasion, the president informed members of the legislative body that the impeachment motions against former House and Senate speakers would be closed on January 21st, while that against Miss Yingluck would be closed the following day (Jan 22nd).

He further disclosed that the verdicts on the three cases would be rendered on Friday, January 23rd.

Miss Yingluck is currently facing charges stemming from the rice pledging scheme carried out under her administration, which saw a tremendous financial loss.

Meanwhile, Mr Nikom and Mr Somsak are facing charges for an attempt to amend a bill pertaining to the origin of the Senate.

this is like the claim the farmers will be paid next week, yl said it everytime the farmers got upset or started necking themselves, seems the ptp lackies all claim they tell the truth but when they dont know what that means it is a bit of overkill. This moron tried to push the bill through while disallowing any arguments against it, he allowed the ptp to do as they wanted while blocking the opposition but claims he did nothing wrong, wonder if they will check his financials and those of his wife and family to see if there were any big donations from overseas.........
