Breakfast in Pattaya

APEX hotel review. as the op said 150/110 for the breakfast. started with the cornflakes and found some real fresh milk. eggs cooked ok and found nice brown bread to make toast. had real butter, couldn't find any marmalade just over sweet thai jam. tried the pork sausage - disgusting. no idea which part of the pig was used to make them. "bacon" was a very small (1 rasher cut in 3?) piece of belly bacon wrapped around yet another inedible version of sausage.. orange juice was orange squash and the coffee I just smelled and didnt bother. don't think I would bother going back. today tried coins 140b brekkie. 2 eggs cooked fine, very nice toast 2 yorkies sausages, beans, black pudding. 2 complaints - coffee tasted like instant even through they said it was not and only gave margarine not real butter. More reviews to follow

I find as a rule of thumb that if the bacon is right then the entire meal is usually right.

Many places around town (and not always the cheap ones) dont include bacon in their breakfast buffet, which to me seems like selling a car without a steering wheel.

Pastrami on Rye is having a soft opening now and serving breakfast in Express Coffee location near Continental Bakery. They will be fully operational in about a week.

I recommend Richman-Porman, Jomtien Soi 9 for American style breakfast. American Diner/Comfort food here.

I don't go there because the waitress was not so welcoming but the food was OK.

I have had the opposite experience. The young lady who was on in the evening introduced herself and wanted to know our names, as the owner, Eddie, had earlier. After going for the breakfast 3-4 times in the last month the cook now tells me what I will be ordering and has been spot on. She has also tried to line me up with a waitress. Unfortunately she was within 20 years of my age so a no go, lol.

Go for the 60B breakfast at the Irish Wolfhound.

bgr780.jpg

Anyone who has been wanting to try this and not got round to it may have left it too late. This morning I was told by staff that as of tomorrow they would only be doing the larger 100B breakfast. Of course TIT and so it remains to be seen how accurate that information is.

Personally I think it's a bad move as my reason for ordering the small breakfast was because it was small and good for my diet. I dont want a large breakfast every day, even if it is good value. I suspect that many other customers think the same way.

Wherever you decide to go, avoid 99 baht breakfasts at all costs.

Stop being a snob Julia, u Bangkok people are all the same.

I rovers is a loss leader, to attract customers, in the morning, no doubt with their lt lady who will want thai food, which is more expensive than some places.

Maybe your bk 99 baht breakfasts are rubbish but this ENGLISH FRY UP, is good.

btw i dont eat breakfast much.

sir

I believe one has to pay for coffee/orage with the 60 baht breakfast. so order the 100 baht one and leave half, as u wil get the coffee/tea and orange free.In other words, stop bloody moaning hahahahha

Not true , a big cup of coffee/tea is included in the price. The small breakfast is perfect for me since I don't like to eat too much in the morning, I am surprised they know change it to "big breakfast" only .

I will probably skip this place now , plenty of 100 baht breakfasts in my area.

Indeed. There are many places doing big breakfasts for around 100B. For me also the unique aspect of the Irish Wolfhound was the good value small breakfast.

It will be interesting to see what effect it has on their business.

that is sad news! I had one 3 or 4 days ago (with the free tea or coffee included in the 60b!)

and I to will not go back as I don't want a massive breakfast 100b either.. guess i'll be buying that pack of hash browns to cook at home after all.

Casa Pascal for a good quality buffet and they also cook stuff to order, its 225 baht but great value, also they have a loyalty points scheme.

Very close by is:

The Swan, 2nd rd end of Soi Post Office, English breakfast at 99 baht which I think is much better than the iRovers one for the same price.

I have it on good authority that the Irish Rovers 99 Baht breakfast went up to 129 Baht this week.

Say it ain't so.......what's the Cheap Charlie's gonna do? I would guess head over to Foodland for the 59bahter.

It's Ok - that would cost + 80 Baht for a motorbike taxi there and back!

Just driving into Pattaya now from Mabrachan, just want decent bacon eggs and sausages

Well Ill go to the foot of our stairs!

don't know how you can have missed the Tulip cafe and bakery

If you are coming down from the lake to the first traffic lights which is the Mikamong crossroads just where the new market is,, there is a 7/11 on the left and TESCO just over the

lights on the left and then there is the

Tulip bakery with cafe.

just a few meters further down the road past the TESCO and In my opinion the best value at around 139 Baht for 2 eggs 2 bacon or sausage, beans 2 toast coffee tea or orange

They also do Thai food which for me and my wife is the best around the area

Scrupulously clean in the cafe and on the table and served professionally

I only live around the corner and have a brekkies now and again just for a change.

Just for further info there is also another bakery/Deli across the road that has all the types of bread and a wholemeal medium lof for 30 Baht which is very tasty and well made

I have never met the owner a Dutchman who also owns the Tulip resort further down the adjoining road but He is and has been doing a really good professional job since I have lived

in this area and I highly commend you giving it a try

Absolute best recommendation for anyone residing out on the dark side... and for anyone from the 'sea side' who is fed up with the total lack of parking at most of the places recommended.

There's about 12 tables inside and 4 outside and it is busy most mornings, more so at weekends. Opens at 7 AM and has the best croissants and sliced bread in the universe.

PS. It's just past the ONLY set of traffic lights on Soi Siam Country Club. Parking out front can take 4 cars, depending on how badly they are parked(!) but plenty parking across the street.

I swear by Jamesons Irish Pubs 199baht full breakfast! A true taste from home. Located on 80/164 Moo 9, Soi Sukrudee.

You can two Tulip breakfasts for that price.

What time do they open?

I can confirm it has gone up to 129 baht as I ate there this lunchtime.

I also tried Kilkenny's (directly opposite) small breakfast at 100 baht earlier this week and thought that was also good value.

For a trad English I like The Devonshire on Soi Lengkee, Tropical Berts was also very good but I've not tried it since they moved.

For Euro stylee I prefer Domicile and Brauhaus at the top of Soi 7 and 2nd..

A bit later in the day, the food at the second R-Con bar on Soi Bukhao is value, and goes down well with a beer at 45 baht a bottle.

I've hardly had a bad breakfast in Pattaya, but the prices in some of the pubs are drifting in the wrong direction IMHO.

18 Coins on soi Buakhao remains a favorite of mine.

Pig and Whistle never disappoints but I don't always like to take breakfast in a pub.

18 Coins on soi Buakhao? do you mean the "old" 18 Coins which has moved across the road into what was EatWell and is now renamed "The Coins" or the establishment which is still trading as 18 Coins and selling an "all you can eat" breakfast buffet for 145 baht and is utter sh_ite bah.gif. They moved Jan.1

It hadn't moved last time I was there.

You have just described the very reason why I avoid low-cost breakfast buffets......... thanks, I shall now avoid the old 18 Coins.

Cheap buffets are slop.

You need to spend 1,000 and up to see a spread of quality stuff.

You're wrong there. There are several places that manage to do something perfectly acceptable for around 125B-225B.

And for something good you only need to spend about 750B at the Royal Cliff.
