She mentioned 'we' a few times that makes me believe she is not riding alone.

If we all took that attitude, whats the point in getting out of bed in the morning?

. Right. Best not rise before noon.

vaunephanShit happens. We don't hope for it, but we've got to be prepared for it.

The bad news is, my bike has broken down in the middle of nowhere.

The good news is, out of that nowhere which it broke down, stands a shop. And of all shops, it's a bike workshop.

I was hoping it wasn't something serious where perhaps I could fix it.. but no. My cam shaft has been scratched, we are checking the piston. It's a simple old school workshop and the mechanic has indicated he doesn't carry any spare parts for my bike. He's trying to see what he can do.

I am expected to reach Laos in 2 days, but I am stuck in Kanchanburi, close to 1,000km away from the border.

How long will I be delayed? How will I continue my journey from here?

Liqui Moly must be thrilled to have their logo prominently displayed on her bike...

I'll bet she ran it hard, lost oil, things got hot and things started seizing.

Scratched cam...dunno.

Maybe without Moly, kaboom.

No mention of any real damage so lubrication, have.

Scratched cam, if true, I would put down to foreign matter being introduced in the extensive tear-down prep work done on the bike prior to departure...

It appears as though she did it... "Relieved to be back on schedule. Going to rest now as I will be crossing the border to Laos tomorrow."

Respect to the young lady.

16 hour riding stint.

For sure, she is making huge amount of members who underestimated her abilities look quite stupid.

No doubt that now they will not be commenting on this lady again.coffee1.gif

That is a huge ride.

Much respect.

Very likely IMO.

I thought i saw a pic where the bike already had near 80,000ks on already so possibly something worn already.

1 million meters in 16 hrs on a dirt bike is impressive.

Old style pushrod single keeps going, scratched cam or no.

Vaune has larger gonads than many of us (or shall I say, in a more appropriate stage in life - I would love to do it also but my day job don't allow it).

In perspective, I am guessing that the average TV member age commenting here is 50 and all are men.

Go for it Miss, an inspiration you are......

I have also spent many a year travelling the world. In fact it never ends, it is just easier now (modern technology, like internet and information at hand).

Sounds like you have the hots for her. Three words - forget it chump.

That motor is SOHC, not OHV.

She has made it to Laos.

Well done.

Why is her bike, luggage and gear looking spotless after riding 9 days/3500 km....... not a drop of rain??

Just saying.........whistling.gif

More power to her. and the team of people following her in the support vehicles with everything she will need. Im looking forward to following this.......is the route published or the time frame?

Good observation, there has been on rain. Any other musings captain obvious?

Did anyone see her on her travels across Thailand?

I missed her in Surat but my buddy met her in Hua Hin!

Over head cam not pushrods, I stand corrected...

But overhead valves not flathead, right?

No matter what, I applaud her achievement but still wonder if she had a support team trailing behind her?????

OHV=pushrod engine

Pushrod engine=OHV

I doubt if you will find any Suzuki road/trail bike engine that is a 'flathead'

Well while she's in Bangkok she's more than welcome to spend the night at my place. there are certain ground rules she must follow though:

1. Must sleep in my bed.

2. No clothing whatsoever allowed.

Thanks for the offer, I will be in Bangkok next week for a couple of nights, happy to go "Au natural " ...

Oops sorry you just meant her... My mistake......

Strictly speaking, all OHCs are also OHV, but not vice versus.

vaunephanChina greeted me with showers of blessings - an extremely heavy downpour! But like I said, with my RS Taichi Drymaster from top to bottom, I am FEARLESS. Remained dry, no wet underwear! Yayy !

She is in China now, and it is raining.

Go for it Vaune!!!

How did she do that? I always heard foreigners could not cross into China over land.

I am puzzled she didn't use the Ducati for that trip...

And yeah she'll be at mount everest base camp and TV commenters who have never been there will still think it's some sort of scam. Oh, well.

By co-incidence talked to a professional bike trip organizer kind of person yesterday and he told me it's no problem to go into China you just have to pay for the tour guide. So alone, it's very expensive. In a group, it's manageable.

^

At least people at TV are talking about her trip. Publicity and many people looking at her pictures and talking about it, isnt that what she wants? I am sure she is enjoying it.

But if she has a guide she isnt exactly riding alone. And maybe some equipment waited for her, fresh clothes and new lipstick for example laugh.png

Hope she is ok
