PATTAYA: -- At Pattaya Police Station on Friday a final preparation meeting was held to discuss security arrangements at the Pattaya Songkran Festival, which takes place on 19th April.

Police Colonel Sakrapee, the Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, led the meeting and began by revealing that because of tighter regulations which were enforced at the Bang Saen Songkran Festival, no arrests and no fights were reported and he expects Pattaya Police to enforce the regulations, laid down by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) with the same vigour.

No arrests and no fights because police concentrated their efforts on looking for naked foreigners.

Turning the City's water off at 9am might be the best idea.

Thought Saturday would be the lull before today's storm so went into town about 4pm. Total snarl up. 6 police at Dolphin roundabout waving their arms about ineffectually. No attempt to regulate traffic flow, merely 'he who dares, wins.' Lots of parties of Koreans/Chinese? Lots of Thais on pick-ups (with water barrels!)

Few farangs.

I want to go to Big C extra in about an hour driving my car from the East Side coming into Sukhumvit on the 7. Anyone out there have a live traffic report for me??? TIA

Have not been today but last year Sukhumvit was total grid lock and you might have more chance going along railway line and turning on to Sukhumvit around KaoTalo area.

My advice is wait until tomorrow but if you have go, prepare for road chaos.

I had a tryst planned for this afternoon with a very nice person which is why I wanted to go to Pattaya... we delayed it till 5pm but as I approached the motorway from Chaiyapornvitee (hwy 3240) traffic was backed up way before the entrance ramp and many where getting off the motorway to go down Chaiyapornvitee (hwy 3240) or the Sattahip bypass I assume.. I took a picture to share with you all.. then turned around and went back home... biggrin.png post-78316-0-95975300-1429444152_thumb.j

Sunday visitors, Songkran's main day in Pattaya, and roadworks all combine so I would not expect anything different quite frankly.
