Not much of a lawyer is he? ^^^^^^

How would you know?--He actually explained everything very clearly and knew the nuances of the law very well.

And he does not know what a Retirement Visa is. sad.png

He knows very well that there is no such thing as retirement visa and that is actually an extension of stay of an NonO visa. The fact that he refers to as a retirement visa like I do and many others do does not mean that he does not know what he is talking about... Think of it as an easier way of saying "an extension of stay of NON-o visa based on qualifying as a retiree"

As a matter of fact "Visas" are never extended so it would seem the "Lawyer" is as was suggested earlier less than well informed ?

My advice to all those out there wishing to extend their "retirement visas" is simply to visit the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, PDR Laos every 90 days to apply for, and hopefully obtain, a fresh single-entry non-O visa. Much more straightforward that having to trot down to your local immigration office each year for an extension of stay, isn't it?

Unfortunately people come here and ask about Retirement Visas when they could mean.

O-A Visas, Non O Visas, Extensions of stay. etc.

They ask about Marriage Visas when they could mean Non O visas, Extensions of Stay. etc.

They ask about Tourist Visas when they could mean Tourist Visas, Visa exempt Entries. Visas on arrival etc.

They ask about Work Visas when they could mean Non Imm B Visas, Extensions of Stay or Work Permits.

They ask about Visas on Arrival when they probably mean Visa Exempt Entries.

And then they complain when they get wrong and conflicting information and advise.

Not easy to try and help.

Hey, I have an idea. I don't always succeed in following it myself, but I try. If you don't understand what the question is don't try to help. Sometimes I see posts asking the OP for more details to clarify what they need. If dumb, confused, ignorant people don't appreciate your efforts, why do you feel sad?

Nothing is often the best thing to do and always the wisest thing to say.
