Xiami Mi Pad

Featured Replies

Anyone know where i can buy the Xiaomi Mi Pad 7.9 inch tablet in Bangkok. Have tried to search online(invadeit, banana, lazada, etc) but couldnt seem to find anyone who sells this here.

You're just in luck. I too am searching for the Mi Pad in Thailand. The Mi Pad is one fine tablet, and almost a no-brainer purchase considering the $200 (officially listed) selling price. However limited availability here makes shopping for a decent price a little difficult. Google's country specific search can help narrow down things nicely.

If you're not familiar with this search feature, go to www.google.co.th (their .com site sometimes doesn't give you country specific search for some reason). Change language to English if necessary, then enter "mi pad" OR mipad (including the quote marks and OR in upper case) in the search box. The initial search results will be worldwide so go into the 'Search tools' menu at the top and change 'Any country' to 'Thailand'. You can also filter out older posts (to get rid of irrelevant pages such as news) by changing 'Any time' to 'Past week' or 'Past month'.

I just did a search specifying 'Past week'. Found a couple of sellers (with reasonable prices) -- 7.5k and 8.8k (7.5k is very good but has been in "pre-order" status since April):

However, I also saw a 2nd hand posting which mentioned they bought theirs from a retailer called aekgadget. So I did another search and found the retail posting here:

Not sure if their 7k price for the 16GB (9.5k 64GB) is for real, but they're located in Ramkamheng so easy to find out. I'm looking to buy 2 (or possibly 3) of the 16GB version, so if you want to join me in a sort of group purchase PM me.

This is indeed really helpful. Thanks

7k for the 16Gb is cheap i would say.

I'm not sure but I believe "AekGadget" is in the same Rhamkhamheng mall that has BIG-C, in the basement level. Many phone and computer shops there.

Just went to pick up a Mi Pad at aekgadget today. The guy is legit. He's on Soi 60/3, per the website, at a shophouse for his parents' business. There isn't actually a sign for aekgadget so best to call when you get there for the exact location. (It's not in the Big C but good to know there's tech stuff there, thanks Dave). Forgot how busy Ramkhamhaeng is so it was a bit of a taxi ride there and back. However good to see the guy and the actual goods first time. If I purchase anything else I will use EMS which costs 50 bt to anywhere in Thailand.

He brings Xiaomi phones and tablets back himself from China. Wouldn't budge on the 7k price. He threw in a decent enough case but charged for the screen protector. He also loaded the lastest firmware and set up google play for us before we left.

I decided to only get one for now to be sure it's ok for us. Will report back after I've had a chance to charge it and play with it.

Oh yeah, there's a scratch label on the box that reveals a number code you can enter into http://www.mi.com/verify/ to confirm authenticity. When I did that it told me the code was for Xiaomi phone (huh?) and that the code had been entered one time so far. If you enter a random code it will give you an error message instead. Anyway no doubt it's authentic.

Hey thanks again for checking and taking the effort to check if aekgadget is legit. This is indeed really good news for me. His prices are somehow the cheapest i have ever seen. Will be ordering it now !!! with EMS of course
