PATTAYA: -- Face Club in South Pattaya faces business shutdown after defying military junta’s order.

Pattaya authorities ordered the closure of Face Club bar in South Pattaya after it allowed entries by underaged youths in defiant of the order of the military junta.

Bang Lamung district officer Charkorn Kanjanawatta who led a team of district officials, soldiers and local police to inspect entertainment places in Pattaya City last night said he ordered the closure after over a hundred of teenagers under 20-year-old were still drinking inside.
Almost all the youths did not carry ID cards, and six of them were also found to be only 14-year-old.

All were later taken in five pickup trucks to Bang Lamung police station to have their profiles booked, and have their parents coming up for acknowledgement of their children’s improper behaviour before release.

But as the five trucks arrived at the station, they ran in all directions in bid to escape, forcing authorities to give chase. Only a handful of them was caught.

The chief officer said as Face Club operator has obviously defied the order of the National Council for Peace and Order head Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha by allowing underaged youths to visit, he would enforce the order of the military junta strictly under Section 44 to shut down the place for five years.

He said this would be the first entertainment place in the eastern region to face shutdown if its operation for five years.

Several other entertainment places in South Pattaya were also inspected.

He said some were warned for operating with louder noises than permitted by law, and some had no licences to sell liquors.

Some were also found to sell smuggled foreign whiskies and some had no business permits.

He said the inspection followed complaints from the people that via the Chonburi governor’s Facebook page that these places still defied the military junta’s order.

This is what they need to do instead of bring out ridiculously, better make that poorly, drafted sets of new rules restricting as to where bars may or may not be. They have the laws in place. The military should be enforcing the police to enforce the laws.

They did not even get them to the police station.

The kids run away when they seen the pick ups coming.

The Face Club was presumably shut down after the Chonburi Governor received complaints from local residents, direct to his Facebook page. This doesn't say very much for the ability or willingness of the local Banglamung police to carry out their responsibilities does it?

Who wants all that paperwork? They got the main culprit now to squeeze him to see what falls out of his pockets to stay in business.

I hope they do close the bar down and keep it closed but what a farce! Firstly... the army? Did they think there were 14 year old terrorists in there or something? If the police were capable of doing there job and supported by local courts then who cares if they don't catch the kids - Just close the bar down and no amount of tea money should be able to re-open it

The kids have their ID cards on them: did the police give cards back to them (assume they handed them back....)? "Almost all the youths did not carry ID cards," okay, so what is punishment for that? If they didn't have ID, use some of those plastic ties behind the back. Hard to run fast with those on. Glad someone busted the place, cops or army. If going to do a raid, make sure the tank is big enough to hold all the law breakers. Looks like they bit off more than they could chew, so "early release" was reasonable outcome

The way they pack people in trucks I can imagine the all fitting in. However i do believe that bar owners should take responsibility when it come to serving minors as it is not all about profit but being a responsible owner. If a person has had one over the top bars should refuse to serve that person any more drinks. If owners did this it would cut down on many drink related problems and perhaps the junta would not have imposed the drinking laws

So one place less where they can collect bribes,

so in short we will see some price-increase in remaining shops !

As noted, also mayn other clubs were found to have unregularities, even not a license !

So they will continou to operate, but bribes will be increased !!

This is Thailand today and yesterday !!

But for public face !

The facwe is closed !!

And all other will continou as usuall !!

LOL - LOS !!

If they were, as I suspect, a bunch of hiso kids that think they are above the law, a pity they weren't actually put in jail for a night, to show them how the lower classes of Thailand fare. I expect that the plod were concerned about the blow back from the hi and mighty parents, and didn't pursue the brats very fast when they ran off.
