webfact
Money trail probe shows money transfers from abroad to bombing suspectsBANGKOK: -- Investigation of the money trail linked to the gang involved in the Erawan Shrine and Sathon pier bombings shows money were wired from abroad into bank accounts of the suspects in Thailand, said Pol Lt-Gen Prawut Thavornsiri, the police spokesman, on Tuesday. He, however, declined to elaborate about the findings from the Anti-Money Laundering Office saying that it was yet to be determined whether the money transfers were against the law or not.Regarding the Thai suspect, Aod Payoongwong or Yongyuth Pokkaew, the police spokesman insisted that the suspect actually exists and was not made up by the police as suggested by some critics. However, he admitted that police had no record about him, not even his ID number. Aod’s mother, he said, admitted that she didn’t notify district officials after he was born and during his upbringing.Aod was reputed to be a former guard of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship or the red-shirt movement.Pol Lt-Gen Prawut said the police had not decided whether to summon Mr Aree Krainara, chief guard of the UDD, for interrogation about Aod.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/money-trail-probe-shows-money-transfers-from-abroad-to-bombing-suspects -- Thai PBS 2015-10-

speedtripler
If the money was used to fund a terrorist bombing campaign, I think we can take safely assume at least "some" laws were broken... slapout
The police spokesman position, held by a policeman who does not know if any law was broken by individuals, who via international transfer of money to finance a bombing resulting in 20 deaths? The old addage '' make sure your employees are not as intelligent as the boss. The term intelligent would not seem to describe or apply to any of those involved in investigating this deed nor those involved in implementinng it, those make public releases on progress or lack there of. the suspects, names, location, nationality, etc. The best thing i have seen the Thai police accomplish in the past has been the ability to line up for a photo shoot but they forget the arm length space alloment between smiling faces, arm length difference while pointing, height difference, angle of hat and that sterm look with finger pointed at suspects. By the way, what decision was reached on the Burmese fellows charged with murder of of the young uk coup;e, verdict advertised a week or more back, now nothing? Yep, could start with Somyot. Now, he only has about 355 million THB, but no one knows from whence it came. There was a move to charge him for corruption but . . . well, PTP was in charge of things back then, and we know how interested they were in investigating the RTP for corruption. Somyot would be good and all other members of the Police at Lt Col and above as would every high ranking member of the junta and their close families, and all senior civil servants or politicians as they all span recent governments I figure if you wanna talk about stamping out corruption then that would be good to show they are all squeaky clean, wont hold my breath though as once someone in authority is bent they will remain bent but dreaming is free.... edited to say it would be really nice if the present leaders of the junta set an example as they are the ones singing that they needed to take over to control corruption, sadly I don't think that will ever going to happen as they don't appear to be big into leading from the front or through example Edited October 6, 2015 by mark131v
smedly
didn't one of the UUD lawyers pay bail for him at one time which means he has been in police custody but then that could have been during the time they were affiliated to PTP and the redshirts, the truth of the matter is that there is nothing straight in this country, we all know it and it is never ever a surprise to me, in fact if it wasn't so serious it would be hilarious watching them constantly trip over their lies and deflections, the movies Dumb and Dumber, The naked Gun or TV Series Police Squad (to name a few) come to mind when reading this stuff

trainman34014
I thought these people paid crooked Immigration Officers to enter the country with fake documents. If this was the case how could they open bank accounts and receive money from abroad with no credible documents ?

That trial at Samui of the 2 unfortunate Burmese Slapout is on going, due to finish in about 10 days, give or take, no verdict expected for another several weeks and the judges' findings need approval from higher up before final decision!! Maybe next year. If there are any further questions arising on this complicated matter ( very hard to fit out a couple of midgets who look like every ones favourite nephews) then the questioner will face execution, probably by lethal injection, it has been very difficult to settle this matter while too many people are asking questions, such as who actually did the murders! You think Thaksin would use banks at all, if he's smart he wouldn't have any paper trail. Just how many paper trails have been discovered to any of his accounts with regards to the rice scam ? Some of you need to get a grip, and see beyond your hatred. The cops have misled and miss investigated this incident since day 1 !!

"Never needed a bank account for money transfers" Many people do not have bank accounts. Trouble is you need a bank account or ID to get money transferred to you. A bike/ car/ truck license will sometimes do even though it is not officially allowed. The money transfer is a major part part of the police allegations, so without some sort of acceptable ID there are some issues with the story.
