lostinisaan Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Hello experts and expats, I've -by accident- found a nice program that's a free and b shows all possible system info someone might, or might not want to see. Here's a statement from the website developer: Belarc's commercial products are used for software license management, hardware upgrade planning, cyber security status, information assurance audits, IT asset management, configuration management, and more. I've scanned it with a few different programs and there's no virus. Please see and give it a try: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
NanLaew Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I've been using Belarc for years. Great when looking for issues with outdated BIOS, lack of Windows patches, getting license keys or doing a machine inventory before doing backups and/or restorations. I also use CPUID products for more detailed hardware information.
bodymassagemyfriend Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 No offense but after 16 years in software industry i never had a reason to use such a program. It must be for a very confidential usage? I've scanned it with a few different programs and there's no virus. I would say 'no virus detected' ;-) My recommendation is that anybody who has no specific reason to use this should not install it. That is the best way to stay away from viruses. Especially for unsecure stuff like this which claims to have direct hardware access. If its not open source , or does not come from a reputable editor. You'd better watch YouTube. Or execute that in a VmWare , to sandbox your PC. My 2 cents.
jacnl2000 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Free lunches such as Belarc and also Speccy are most likely served within a more broad context of further refined hopefully not too difficult to wipe out marketing strategies.

There is no virus in Belarc if you get it from the right source. It's been around for years, useful in the old days to find out your PC's hardware when drivers were much more of an issue than they are now. They've added bells and whistles since then but I haven't had a need for it. A lot of its original functionality is now built into windows.

Of course did I download the tool from their website and not from a Baidu infiltrated offering one. Here's an important statement: PRIVACY OF YOUR PROFILE INFORMATIONThe Belarc Advisor keeps your PC profile on your PC and does not send it to a web server, including Belarc's server. Belarc is able to personalize a web page to show you details of your computer without a web server by using technologies included in the Belarc Advisor. I can see and save all my program details when making a new installation. I don't even know if you understand whatI'm talking about. Your statement to "stay away from viruses" shows how much you know about this software. Or software in general? You're badmouthing a fantastic program that will help many users on this forum, without having an understandable reason for it. And once more. There is no virus. Please don't tell me that you've worked 16 years in "the software industry." Did you sell Nintendo games, perhaps?
