I'd like you to devote the same time you do to making nonsensical statements to actually watching football, and thinking through things before you say them.

Thanks

Having read your posts i could say the same.  Oh and take your Man United hat off, this is the England thread so its far from nonsensical to be discussing the form and reasons for non selection of any squad member.

 Bye.

Yep... think the team selection could give us an idea.. same starting line up i reckon   it'll be an opening onslaught   if southgate changes it maybe we'll c a more 'cagey' approach.. as for alfie.. sad but true..<deleted> a workin guy would EVER b a tory.. is  beyond me and arguably beyond reason  ..

Almost certainly the same line up.  Why change it.  Although there a question make over Henderson's hamstring wasn't there.  That would be a blow for us.

Without sounding too harsh, its remarkable that a squad that space for Welbeck has formed a side that can reach the semis.  I saw his squad inclusion as a gaping sign of our weakness.

Im sure every Arsenal fan is thinking the same about Dier’s inclusion.

Yes, because the identity of the 4th choice striker is a huge indication of a team's weakness. ?

Regardless, he is a versatile player who can play in any forward position, with loads of top level experience. And he suits the way this team plays.

Can you explain how he suits the way this team plays?

(Oh wait a minute, were back to the Man Utd thing again! He use to play for you, hence criticism is therefore nonsensible or wrong)

We've done fantastically well so far, better than we might have expected. As widely reported the progress has been built upon sticking to a system, thus far the players have all been doing the simple things right, either with or without the ball, supplemented by flashes of excellence both in defence and in front of goal.

Whether or not that, along with the team spirit and confidence that the campaign has nurtured will be enough to progress further remains to be seen.

Regardless of whichever club they play for and whichever club each of us supports we should be getting behind them all, Chok dii to the boys tonight and here's hoping for something extraordinary.

Because Mourinho doesn't know how to play him or get the best out of him?  Surely you're not suggesting he isn't good enough to start of United?

...and because Southgate also doesn't know how to play him or get the best out of him? So the two men that matter in his career currently don't fancy him at the moment as a starter (but as an impact sub). That should tell you something.

The question of whether or not he's good enough to start is one for ManU fans to answer.

PS. I rate Rashford as a player; I just wouldn't start him over Sterling at the moment but would use him as a rubbadub.

There is just a feeling to this one that seems different to all the others, even watching the games can be done with relative calm, I'm not sure if this is due to all the years of disappointment that gave in to resignation a long time ago, or that things just seem to be coming together at the right time and in the right order. The group 1 dodge was an absolute stroke of genius or luck, then the penalties finally came good and at the right time as they boosted Pickford's confidence just before he really needed his abilities at their best. I wish them all good luck tonight as not only would it be fantastic for them to reach the final, but also because I am selfish and backed my predictions at the bookies, that it would be a France/England final and England will lift it. Come on lads, bring it home !!!!

Sorry I didn't get TV's email that this now the 'Carmine TV Football forum'! ?

Maybe you didn't but surely you knew Carmine's inclination to try starting silly spats long before this WC and probably before the last one or two.

And?

And if take your Spurs/anti Arsenal hat off and look at it objectively Welbeck is well worthy of inclusion as a 4th option as has been mentioned by other posters.

- Maybe ask him and Southgate what he offers.

- Im sure nobody gives a <deleted> who you rate or don’t rate either.

Nothing personal, just highlighting how juvenile these arguments get when you only look at it from one perspective.

I didn’t rate France’s performance, Belgium had them under the cosh for long periods of that game, but just could not score. No idea how England vs Croatia will go, but the English team may never get another chance to win a World Cup ... if they play as well as the Sweden game they can get through.

French were impressive defensively. Can’t remeber seeing Lukaku ever having such a quite  game, and De Bruyne had a stinker by his standards.

If England get to the final they will need s plan to stop Mbappe. He was very impressive and a proper handful.

Agree and he likes to play on his right side so Young could/should be marking him!!!!

Problem being Young gives his opposing player too much room, is not a close marker and not that speedy either...…...Rose to the rescue BUT have to get past Croatia first!!!!!

i'm not sure i see the point of this comparing really. rashford is about the best english talent i've seen in my lifetime since gazza if i'm honest, he's an amazing footballer at an annoyingly young age. genuinely gifted and going to be an incredible player long term. he's 20 years old. i sincerely hope that his fantastic future isn't at man united but you know.

There is absolutely not point in comparison. BB seems to still have missed the point.Rashford still hasn't finished growing.I expect his appeances to increase during the next season, far too many very young players get long term  injuries

Playing as much as Wellbeck did in his late teens is thought by many specialists (well documented) to be one reason why his whole career has been plagued by injuries, his whole body especially  knees, ankles were not fully developed.

Michael Owen said in the twilight of his career thats what he was told by physios when injuries gave him a few hurdles to jump over in his early days

England should beat Croatia but we all know thats up to the football Gods. If I remember correctly Croatia have  played 2 lots of extra time and in the last game looked very "leggy".Their key players are heading towards the final stages of their careers and England are fresh ,that should have a big bearing on the game. Can't see Young, if in the run on side, playing 90

"BB seems to still have missed the point" - not true. I appreciate Rashford is coming up to 21 soon and probably  isn't  the finished article .

My points were simply that:

1. his 2 managers don't  see him as a guaranteed starter just yet, and,

2. I would start Sterling ahead of Rashford.

I think Southgate will be too afraid to experiment and change a winning team at this stage, I also like  Rashford as a player , his chance will come, but not this year.

We will see how good Southgate is when things arent going our way.

He has set up a positive side and deserves credit for that.

If we are drawing or even losing will he make the right changes and at the right time?

Funniest thing I have seen in a long time here ?

I was thinking...if I were stuck in a cave for lets say 2-3 weeks and got out yesterday and I would've been updated on the World Cup, THIS would've been my reaction too ?
