I think the weather's broken, heavy rain about 3am this morning with a few spots this afternoon, cloudy now.

Good day for soup.... couple of chicken pieces out of the freezer, some old veggies from the back of the fridge, bunch of celery fortunately bought last week from the Royal Project shop. Handful of m

It was a beautiful day out on the bike today.

Yep, forecast is for some rain everyday for the next week or so. We got water back in the village pipes, and my ponds are refilling. Shame about all the fish that died a week ago. They almost made it.

I have been watching isolated storms all day but we have yet to get even one drop of rain at the house. I even did 50km on the bike today and all I got was some heavy wind gusts. I hope your rain visits us east of town.

It was hot out there today but very beautiful. By sunset the clouds were gone and the sun stayed up longer than it has lately. There were plenty of clouds in the afternoon, however.

It has been hot.

Anyone noticed a prolificity of midges this year?

Some sort of little black bug anyway.

This has definitely been a good year for bugs of all shapes and sizes.

I've noticed a big increase in the number of houseflies this year. They're seriously getting on my nerves in the kitchen. We keep a very clean house, but the flies are bloody everywhere. :boring:

I would imagine that the farmers would be well pleased with the wet season so far after last year.

This is pretty much a daily occurrence. I never get tired of it though.

I love how verdant and green everything is at the moment. I remember reading about an artist years back who trademarked the 'perfect' shade of blue. I think the rice fields this time of year are the 'perfect' shade of green.

I love the rain in Chang Rai ... but only when I am indoors looking out at it!

Drove to Chiang Rai this morning from Phayao. A few spots of rain on the way. Parked at Central about 1020 and it was a little heavier. Left at about 1330 and rained all the way home. We were going to BigC but with the rain that detour was cancelled. It eased off at home but the rain has started again.

The weather is so pleasant this morning that I'm surprised the neighbors aren't trying to burn something.

Give them time, it is still early.  We were out yesterday and noticed many fires around the Lamyai plantations.  Lots of leaves and branches to burn after the harvest.

The rain stopped briefly but is coming down again and the water continues to rise. One neighbor is collecting earthworms on the road. We will be fine but the fields are under water and our pond is only recognizable by the wall sticking out of the water.

Even if the rain stops, which it hasn't, the water may top the wall around the pond.  The soi in the first picture is now completely under water.

They are now fishing in the soi and our driveway.

Okay, I know your back yard area enough to know how deep that is. Is this the highest the water level has ever been? I gather your pups aren't in a swimming mood? :)

Yes, this is the highest the water level has ever been.  We had similar floods in 2007 when we were still building and 2008 after we had moved in, so we built the wall around the pond the following year.  This flood was by far the highest but it did not rain last night so things are looking pretty good today.  The pump on the sala was under water yesterday so I am not sure if it will still work or not.

Coming up very black down this way.

Luckily I live on hill in a valley. B)

We are getting absolutely hammered out here in Phayamengrai.  Started about an hour ago and the lightning has gotten pretty close a few time.

Plenty of rain here, not to heavy though.

I sat on the deck and watched it with a coffee. :coffee1:
