Air force plane crashes, seven aboard killed

All seven air force personnel were killed when their jet crashed just only a minute after it took off in Nakhon Sawan province Wednesday.

Small pieces of the aircraft were found scattering in the air force base in the province.

Earlier reports showed that the jet just took off from the base for about 1.47 minutes before the ill-fated pilots radioed to tower, asking for emergency landing.

The air force authorities sealed off the area and launched investigation into the crash.

Capt Monthon Suchakorn said the aircraft banked sharply shortly after take-off, hit the ground and exploded, shattering the plane into small pieces. All aboard were killed.

"This is the biggest loss for the air force in recent years,'' Capt Monthon told reporters.

Thai air force plane crashes, seven aboard killed

BANGKOK, Thailand: Seven air force personnel were killed when their aircraft crashed in central Thailand Wednesday, an air force spokesman said.

Capt. Monthon Suchakorn said the aircraft banked sharply shortly after take-off, hit the ground and exploded, shattering the plane into small pieces. All aboard were killed.

The crash occurred in Nakhon Sawan, about 210 kilometers (130 miles) north of Bangkok.

"This is the biggest loss for the air force in recent years," Capt. Monthon told reporters.

The Learjet, which had been in service for 18 years, was on an aerial photography mission from an airfield in Nakhon Sawan, the spokesman said.

"The aircraft was taking off when the nose went down and when it exploded it was shattered into small pieces," he said.

An air force team will investigate the accident, he said.

Would not classify it was a "crash landing" Thought there were some survivors.....

Crash is maybe more appropriate.

I help bring one back to the hangar many years ago with its of pieces of people still in the wreckage, not a prettyjob.

Condolances to the families
