Things are pretty dry out.

The stream crossing is not running,

just a little muddy.

///// /////// ///

MX past weekend:

Gun [#19] placed ...

1st in 65cc;   10-y/o class

4th in 85cc;   13-y/o.

[a YZ85 makes nearly 20 HP.]

His dad was out yesty cleaning & fixing the race bikes.

He let me use the new power sprayer

to blast the grime off my bikes.

Went riding my cow yesty

with a Dutch guy.

Noticed on the way out of the reserve

that a rope had been put up,

closing the area

I guess.

Hired [B700] a pick-up truck & driver

to bring the Climber into Patter for service.

The front brake calliper had been acting up;

dragging and getting really hot.

The KMK shop mech tried a couple times to fix it but no luck.

The fork seals were leaking & neoprene gators were ragged.

Also papa has been riding without side stand,

for 3 years,  the original had broken.

So brought bike in and supplied seals, oil and new gators.

Used 10W20 oil for forks.

Shop ordered a new side-stand, some Yamaha part.

They did a nice job with the mod/install;

papa very happy.

B1280.

Will take bike back out Monday

and give her a rip,

if remember how.

papa at it again.

Out on the trail slogging thru roots & rocks

noticed no power being transmitted.

First thought:  bumped into neutral.  Not.

2nd thought: chain derailed off rear sprocky; yep.

Dismounted to find engine-sprocket had lost bolts

and came off of shaft.

The sprocket was wrapped in the chain,

but keeper and bolts, gone.

[see post 287]

Was able to remove the guard

[a piece go plumbers strap]

and get the sprocket back too shaft.

Then bent the strap in to prevent sprocket from sliding off.

By miracle was able to ride out

no problemo.

Picked up new sprocket, keeper and bolts in town.

B80.

Will try to effect a repair 2mor.

Maybe try some lock-tite.

Got the Climber climbing well again.

///////

papa's enduro boots have been beat-up pretty well.

The rubber sole has been peeling off

despite several attempts at re-glueing.

Decided to secure with 8 wire sutures.

Trouble in paradise.  Climber.

The recent mod adding a kick stand seemed good, but

turns out, no.

The  mounting bracket is attached forward and down, to the L foot-peg area.

It below bash-plate and smashes things like rocks, roots, logs,

tending to stop ver abruptly &

& papa roly-poly .

Unsafe. Needs further mod.

=>> Behind peg.

And shucks, my little mech shop is closed.

Sign says something in Thai, ... 10/25.

[Closed until Oct 25 ??]

Will be riding the Cota until then, unless

another welder pops up.

Well, pap’s KMK mechanics are back on the scene.

Took Climber over to see if

they could modify kick-stand,

moving it aft 6-8inches.

'Before' photo below:

They said come back in 2 hours,

and offered a decrepit Fiore as a loaner.

Nabbed some lunch then motored over to base

to try and fire up the Cota.

It fired fine but looks like a leaky front valve stem.

Deal w/ that later.

Back to shop & collaborated with

welder to git 'er done.

400B / 100 tip.

//  “After” shot later.  //

Tried the 5k loop, clockwise.

Very green and bushy.

papa riding poorly.

The side-stand mod is working out.

May try to bend the leg a few ~10-15º

to place it closer in to swing arm.

The jungle is reaching out.

Saw a meter-long lizard.

Climber's throttle twist went bad so

took it in to mech.

He worked on it for an hour

while papa got lunch.

Bought it from him last year so

no charge.

Went out for to ride this AM.

Turned fuel cock on, Climber,

and noted fuel running onto ground,

bigly.

Figured float valve stuck open,

so pushed to shop.

They removed & cleaned carb;

good to go. B150.

New tree collapse across trail on west part of loop

turned back.

It's a jungle out there.

Less lazy than usual,

& cooler temps,

papa has ridden 3 days in a row.

Other riders have establish ride-arounds to circumvent the down trees,

so able to do the 15k loop again.

Things alway changing.

Several hundred meters of trail has stream running down it now.

Got smacked in the nozzle by a tree branch today.

Bloody but persevered.

Been noticing Thais out in the reserve.

Gathering mushrooms ??

Along a section of trail have noticed holes by the trail,

like a dog would dig going for chipmunks.

Today saw a big lizard, like meter plus, prolly the cause.

About 6 km out today,

went to restart the Climber after passing a gate, and surprise,

kick-start lever missing.

Backtracked trail all the way out but couldn’t find it.

[Maybe lizard absconded with it, 5 5]

Luckily the Climber bump-starts real EZ.

Bought a new lever in Patts, B140

Turns out the were digging out those holes,

gathering a cicada-looking insect

Trails at KMK all in good shape.

Fallen trees have been cut back.

There is a bigs foot race event this weekend.

[22nd];

several races from 5k to 50 k.

They are setting up tents stuff already.

My riding boots are old and have required repairs.

A big hole worn through the rt. boot

on the inside was recently repaired by the little shop in NaKlua.

He sewed a large leather patch covering the whole medial side

with a smaller patch doubling  the wear area.

B300. Very good job.
