Disillusioned Syrian refugees return home

Featured Replies

Why not those in the middle east move to Indonesia, Malaysia, or Brunei? Those are Muslim countries right?

Why would you believe any of the countries you mentioned would welcome Arab economic refugees or genuine asylum seekers just because they are Muslim? Also there is the issue that Malaysia now hosts about 2 million illegal migrants from Indonesia - ask yourself why.

Yes, so if even these Muslim countries don't want to take in the people from the Middle East, why should Europe? Is Europe to be held responsible for the mess the US created?

what the U.S created?... Did you know that islam has being carrying on like this even before Christopher Columbus joined the Naval Academy

Extremely strange that this guy has enough cash available for him to consider paying people smugglers to take him home. I'm sure that if he made his intentions known, some sucker government would transport them for free.

Mali official welcomes all Isamic refugees with open arms. Why aren't they heading there?

Yeah, so if Muslims have been doing this for centuries why are they only running to Europe in the thousands now? And why is Europe only taking them in and giving shelter like this now? A big part of it is also self-supposed "white guilt" thanks to the nonsensical interference of the US.

Haha! Good question :)

An economic migrant returns home when he realises that he and his family aren't about to receive immediate access to welfare - is this about right?

Disillusioned Syrian refugees return home, disillusioned Europeans wish them "Bon Voyage"

]guess there weren't any free money, homes, cars, I pads and mobiles phones so that's why they went home then also.

To those who like to blame the US for the mess that is the Middle East...maybe we should look a little further back at the roots of all of this.

WW1 and the British and French Imperialists who drew arbitrary lines across the debris of the Ottoman empire bare a huge responsibility for all of this mess.

The US bares the responsibility for foolishly, or naively believing that removing the Dictators that held the artificial nations that the British and French created would result in some democratic states, has definitely proved itself to be wrong.

These Middle East artificial nations created out of WW1 are destined for the same fate as the equally artificial European States of Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia.

It would be nice if everything could have resolved itself as peacefully as the Czechs and Slovaks. but history teaches us I think that that is the exception rather than the rule.

At the end of the day, Syria, Iraq, will devolve into states somewhat similar to the old Ottoman provinces, ethnically based and the that will finally end the crisis.

But so long as we all cling to the belief that that colonial legacy is real, prepare for more turmoil.

Dusseldorf refugee camp burned down by migrants:

Sorry, but the US is not interested in "democratic states" at all. It will do business even with a totalitarian communist regime, as long as the money is good. Similarly, it is interested in the Middle East for economic gain and oil.

Fantastic news. Clearly Syrians and other Middle Easterners will fit in better socially, politically and religiously in similar countries in their own region. It's best for all concerned.

Excellent post. It appears obvious to me that the cultural, political and religious differences are far beyond our ability to grasp and manipulate (for lack of a better term). I believe it's best we withdraw from the entire region and and let them settle things for themselves. I wish them luck.

'Everything is forbidden'

Yes, you're not allowed to rape women and suchlike.

Actually these genuine families I feel for, it's the aggressive male losers looking for an easy ride can take a hike.

That's somewhat cynical, but I accept the point. All governments deal with regimes they feel 'useful' for whatever reason; strategically placed, resource rich etc

My underlying point was the flaw is to look on the chaos of the middle east as problem that originated in the last 10 years. I would argue that the seeds of all of the chaos were planted in 1918

Not to worry... our president Barack Hussein Obama seems intent on making sure we get thousands of these "refugees". It makes no sense, really- from a logistics, political, cultural, religious point of view, they'd fit in far better in countries in their region. We are $19 trillion in debt and quite frankly can no longer afford being the world's savior.

Enough already.
