Hi Guys,

The dealer called me this morning to say my new car was here and when I could pick it up. I said I'd come now and they asked if I could wait a few days as it's in Suratthani (I live on Samui) having the window film put on and that she would go pick it up tomorrow.

Now... I'd have thought the car would have been delivered to the show room on the back of a truck and it would have zero km's on it when i went to pick it up.

When you got your new everest was there on km's on the clock?

I'd also like to know how I can check it's the 2016 model and not the 2015 model?

My insurance company told me I'd need to bring the car to them to insure, which is a bit worrying as it means driving it with no insurance. I'm going back to them today to speak face to face about this.

Anything else I should check for?

Cheers.

If I was paying x amount for a new car I would ask the dealer not to drive the vehicle, you cannot know how they drove it ,stressing the engine ,crashing the gear box if manual ,stone chips ,no only see 1 or 2 km from the factory.

enjoy your new car smile.png

The availability of the MY15s ran out last year. You can be assured that you have an MY16 and that it has been built recently. Ford can't build them fast enough at present. In fact 3.2s are quite scarce.

Normally the vehicle is dropped off at the dealership on a transporter ... he will have to take it to 'where ever' to get the window film done. In hindsight it may have been better for you to choose your own film and get it done yourself.

I got a rebate of 5000K thb for not wanting their film. My EV had less than 3Kms on when I received it last year.

The dealer arranged insurance ... but I had to pay. Note ... I received the vehicle end of Nov ... eventually, after a few phone calls, I received the insurance and it was dated in January and for a year. Both dealer and insurance company, because we queried with both, said that initially a mistake was made with my name so they had to redo the policy !!!!!!!!!!!

I would have expected the insurance rep to visit you ... that has been my experience.

enjoy

most of the time, cars will still get the tint done at the dealers even if the dealer don't do the tint themselves, they get the tint guys to come in to do it. Depending on how long the cars been at the dealer, its not uncommon to see cars with up to 5-10km on the odometer depending on how long the car has been sitting in the lot. Sometimes cars get move from one dealer to the next as well.

OK. Great. Thanks for the feedback guys. I

'm just worried she's driven the thing back from Suratthani and it has 120km+ on the clock. Would you still accept it?

I guess I'll see Wednesday.

It won't have 120Kms on it, haha, your getting excited, will you sleep Tuesday night ?

Good luck with the New Everest, nice motor, if Ford could get their Dealers to up their game I'd order one too.

Enjoy the new ride. smile.png

surely you got 1 years free insurance with a new car???

Nope, they don't give anything away this motor due to the high demand. And... please don't call me Shirley... :)

Don't worry. Very normal for a vehicle to have that amount of kms on the clock. Hell many thai ladies have had more kms of meat run up them and they still look new.

All new cars have a few KM on them, as they are driven around a small proving track before getting parked, then on and off car carriers. If you get accessories or film installed for delivery, you might end up with 20KM or more on the clock as it's been driven around to 3rd party fitters.

As for checking if it's a real 2016 model, first will be the color - if you ordered a white, silver or gold one, they now have a black interior - all MY15's had a cream interior. Next is to look for a heads-up display on the top of the dash on the drivers side. Another way is to look for the adaptive cruise control radar on the driver's side of the front bumper's lower opening. Even more difficult to spot is the active cruise's distance control on the steering column stalk. More hidden again are the controls for the lane keeping assist and front collision mitigation on the LCD screen to the right of the speedometer.

But that all said, you can be sure you're getting an MY16 - the MY15's had a queue lining up for them - they are long gone ;)

She sent me a LINE message last night to say she's driving it back from Suratthani.... That's 100kms at least. I hope she doesn't rag the balls off it...

Go to Suratthani and drive it back yourself, problem solved..

I don't have time. I pretty much work 18 hours a day at the moment.

I would not accept a new vehicle with 100+ks I would tell them to shove it.

I was thinking the same. I called my friend in the UK who owns a dealership and he said not to worry about it.

great vehicle. Surat Ford now has a very professional contact lady (K. Benjawan) who speaks English. It used to be difficult dealing with the service dept. good luck and enjoy that wonderful aroma of a new car interior. a silly little tip, maybe - make sure they have included an owners manual in English. did you research Ford financing, cash discount/ Tks.

Why did you not Use your local Ford Shop, would have saved all that time you don't have going to order it.

What are you talking about?

Of course I used my local Ford dealer here on Samui. 5 minutes from my house.

So pick it up there, and stop bleating over a few clicks.New Rides today dont need nannying.

After delivery it's going up on blocks and then going to be hermetically sealed in plastic.giggle.gif

And don't let any local journalist take a test drive! Journalists and Flord Everests don't go together well.

Especially ones who notice an electrical fault, but continue to drive it for another 3 days, observing it getting worse and worse, just to see just how bad it can ultimately get ;)

Morning Guys!

Picked it up yesterday. It's perfect. 50km on the clock which is fine and it's spotless.

It's a bit weird getting used to driving an automatic as for the past 20 years I've driven manual. Keep wanting to put the clutch in.

Also need to work out what all the buttons do as the manual is in Thai. They've ordered me an English version. I do have the English version from Australia in .pdf so I guess I'll print that out.
