Samsung J-7 Signal Issues?

Featured Replies

My GF who is working in Koh Samui purchased a Samsung J7 last month. A friend bought the same model at the same time. Both are having problems with weak signal strength for voice calling. Friends with different phones at the same locations on the same network (AIS) are not having similar signal problems.

Have any other J7 users out there had similar issues? There is some discussion about it on the internet but it is unclear if this is a common problem or isolated.

1. J7 2016?

2. Android version?

3. Current network?

Dial *#2263# and manually try out different bands under band selection>wcdma, 900 and 2100 i believe is used by ais. When done testing return to band selection and enable lte/wcdma/gsm

With the advent of LTE, and without associated VoLTE capabilities (AIS does have VoLTE but not everywhere, and you must register for it, and your phone must support it), a handset must negotiate back/down to 3G if on LTE when making/receiving a voice call or SMS - all on the fly. This means you might be handed off to a 3G network which may not have the same coverage.

This is not a unique issue, nor do I think it is related to the phone/model. I think it's more an issue of network and location.

These issues can be resolved but maybe not by the OP or his GF?

Recently bought a J7 - very happy with it. No signal problems anywhere in Chon Buri and Rayong. I'm on True post-paid.
