Fungus in the fruit juice - and what is this mysterious lump?

Rayong: -- A woman who bought a fruit juice carton from her local supermarket in Bann Chang, Rayong got a nasty surprise when she opened it to pour a glass.

 

There was fungus and a horrid black lump floating in the carton. And the product was within the sell by date!

 

Rather than go back to the shop for her money back she cut open the carton to investigate and do what many people do these days - post the findings on Facebook.

There was much comment with helpful posters suggesting that the buyer of the juice should contact the consumer protection department or the makers of the juice, reported sanook.com

I bought a can of patee at lotus a few weeks back which was spoiled. It looked good at the time of purchase but someone had broke the seal. You got to be careful in Thailand.

Fresh milk is one to watch but in another way. We have an outer circlel family member visit quite often, he's totally consumed by 'beautiful'. different example: don't take the fruit out of the packaging and make sure other visitors can see the price label, the fruit looks more beautiful in the packaging (even simple cheap plastic bag), and the price will impress people.

 

Fresh milk. Three growing kids, so we buy / consume a lot of Meiji fresh milk, 2l and 1l size plastic bottles. If 2 new bottles in the fridge everybody knows to open the bottle with the use by date that expires first.

 

Our mr. beautiful just won't listen and pushes the kids to not open any 2l bottles so they are always full and look impressive to anybody who might open the fridge. All attempts to explain that milk spoils after a few days and can make you very sick is ignored and he just repeats  'that's not true, it's the same as water or pepsi'.

I got the same thing in Mallee Tomato juice. I contacted manufacturer.

It was mold caused by damaged carton, probably caused by bad handling in shop.

They gave me four cases of fruit juices in compensation !!

Look carefully at the bread dates at a Big supermarket in Rayong, often see a 2nd BS sticker put on top of the original. Hence the filling cracking staleness.

Hygiene standards compared to Western Countries bare no resemblance whatsoever.

 

The manufacturers and retailers can get away with almost whatever they wish.

 

Naming and Shaming is not allowed.

 

Law Suits do not happen.

 

Re-labeling / Re-dating is obvious. Freshness, or lack of it, prevails.

I had the same in Europe one day but i made the mistake to drink straight from the (new) pack.

 

I called the company and they sent me 10 new packs for free. I will never drink straight from a pack though
