Jenphop Viraporn is ordained as a monk in a ceremony on May 9 at Wat Soontorn Thamtan in Bangkok. He left the monkhood several weeks later.

AYUTTHAYA — A businessman charged with killing two graduate students with his Mercedes-Benz in March could not make his first court appearance Monday due to a mental breakdown, his lawyer told the court.

Because of his mental condition, Jenphop Viraporn’s lawyer also asked the court to indefinitely postpone the trial on the grounds he is unfit to stand trial, a move slammed by the family of one of his victims as a cheap trick to delay justice.

Because of his mental condition....asked the court to indefinitely post the trial..."

I wonder if he will use the "Affluenza" defense.  His wealthy parents let him get away with everything and spoiled him. Had he not been so insanely rich and spoiled, he only would have been able to afford a motor bike, and thus not be able to have killed two people. Thus, it was his misfortune to be wealthy and should not be found guilty.  It worked in the states where the wealthy have a more difficult time scamming the legal system.Expect this POS to be back on the road in a few weeks.

Over to you Prime Minister Prayut. Show the people of Thailand what you are made of. This is a test case.

Is the family of the deceased going to receive  justice or not?

You need to prove yourself to your fellow citizens on Thailand's law and order and civil rights.

The world is watching.

Fair enough; he currently needs help. Admit him to a Thai mental hospital as an inpatient until such a time as he feels well enough to stand trial - It is the only fair and compassionate action under the circumstances and I am sure he will start feeling better quickly....

I wonder how those other monks in the picture feel about this pathetic creature making even more of a mockery of the institution.

Perhaps, along with claiming to be sorry, I'm sure a few motor vehicles offered as merit to the wat didn't hurt his standing with the monks.  In many cases which have appeared in print, that seems to be the state of the institution these days. I am sure his family picked out at which wat he would seek forgiveness.

And let's not forget his dream about the victims' families forgiving him. This guy is a real piece of work.

I try to imagine Thailand as a developing country.......but with <deleted> performing as this PoS is.......one has to realise that it's not any where near 1st world...........

The sad part is that he'll most likely get away with this infantile charade.......

He's rich crashed his car killing 2 innocent  but poorer people now hes become mad after becoming a monk to show his sorrow .....how unlucky for him....... although i suspect though he will recover quite well when all this pesky news dies down.

3rd world  country here and it's going to take long time to change because the rich people in control dont want it to

If he is sick put him into a prisoner hospital  for medical observation and treatment until he is fit to stand trial and gets his deserved verdict. But put him behind bars !

This kind of injustice really hurts - if you have a somewhat healthy mind.

He's rich,  everyone knows the outcome,  just going through the motions here to show.

Maybe one day things will be different and these sorts of things will be a bit of unsavory history.

Disgusting, blatantly slapping faces of those poor parents and those gone souls.

How I wish that Karma will serve him well, but in this country it seems even that doesn't work with rich and influential people.

karma is as imaginary as is God.  in feudal states the elite can do what they want. in socalled enlightened democratic western states they can do so as well. 555

He's not a "suspect".

He did it.

Anyone arguing that he didn't?

The trial is only a formality, which he need not attend, as I believe it is possible to be found "guilty in absentia" in Thailand.

so now that this vile <deleted> has realised he is no longer going to be able to buy his way out of a conviction because ******Thailand has changed****** he is now acting like the irresponsible scumbag coward that he is for all to see.  I vote yes

I hope this sets a president going forward and a strong message to the rest of these scum that they can no longer do as they please and can no longer buy their way out of justice, just maybe they will start behaving with some measure of responsibility............................you are no longer above the law

Next, Thai authorities need to stop standing around and allowing these criminals to evade arrest, if they don't turn up for court then arrest them....no more excuses

Redbull next........that one has been allowed to go on for far too long and next the fraudster monks

and a full reform of the justice system and police needs to follow
