Buying Washing Machine from Big C - Installation etc.

Recommended Posts

A friend is taking an old washing machine from one my condos.

I told the tenant that they can buy a new one from Big C and I'll transfer them the money.

On promo price at 5,500 baht.

I'm away from the city, I presume that Big C deliver and install it - all the pipes etc. are in place from the last one.

Or do they just deliver and it's on the person in the condo to connect it all up?

She's a Thai in her 50's, I'd prefer them to do it.

Thanks.

ask tenant to ask Big C if installation is included in price when she goes to buy.

+1............pretty obvious to me also

Connecting to existing fitments is usually very straight forward and if Big 'C' is delivering it the delivery guy in most instances will do it for her if she asks them.

Most condo complexes have maintenance men. For anything that I can't handle they will do the work efficiently and economically. I would think that the delivery people would not have any problems doing the hookup but if anything needs replaced, you are likely out of luck. My condo has two balconies, a large one and a small one. I wanted my washing machine moved to the small balcony. It had no electric outlet and no water. They ran the water and electrical through the ceiling for scarcely more than the cost of the material.

My condo maintenance charge covers water damage. No problem.

I know the answer. It's yes.

BigC delivered my washing machine, connected it up to the existing connections/pipes and took the old machine away. The guy was not pleased that I wanted him to take the old one away, until I explained that there was nothing actually wrong with it apart from being rather old and a bit grubby and too small for my needs. Once he heard that his demeanour improved. I'm sure it still has a few years left in it.

I can't remember if it were Big C or Tesco, but a few years ago I bought a washing machine from one of them and they said it included free delivery but not installation.  When the guys came with the machine, they hooked it up for free.  (Except for a tip I gave them.)

I think what they meant in the store was that installing/modifying the electrical and/or water supply would not be free.  If, as the OP indicates, the electrical outlet and water attachment point are there, it will be free.

I can't remember. It was about 12 years ago I bought my Samsung 7.5 Kg top-loader from Big 'C', and it's still going strong. :D

Yes, they will deliver it and connect it to the existing connectors that the old one used.

They won't dig into the floor, cut open your pipes, install a new section of pipe etc.

If there was a machine previously, one can assume those things are not an issue.  There would be if changing style - like from top to front loader or vice-versa.

You all know that "installing" a washing machine amounts to connecting the water hose to the faucet and plugging it in, yah?

And making sure it's level.  But, yeah, it's pretty simple overall.

Yes normal installation will be done by delivery people (who are often from maker rather than seller).  They will also provide instructions on use so always best to have the person that will be using available (when was the last time you observed anyone actually reading a manual - even if printed in Thai?).

Oh, yeah.  That, too.  The point was that it's not rocket science to "install" a washing machine if all the infrastructure is already there, like in the OP's case of a replacement machine.
